Thanks a million for that run down of companies, Chinatown. I'm already actually looking in a few of them.

Saddletramp, I started getting tattooed while I was in the Marine Corps. Got out, jumped in the government contracting world and pretty much had a free run when it came to tattoos. My neck tattoo is the unit motto from the unit I was in during most of my time enlisted. Granted I have had a few (and by few I mean alot) folks question my gang affiliation or how much time I spent in prison. Apparently Latin script is gang related??? Ah well. It's actually kinda funny.

Anyway, thanks for the input folks.

Easily covered. Fingerless gloves cover the hand tats. The neck can be covered with a turtle neck shirt, scarf, balclava pulled down around neck, etc...

Should be a non issue. Not like you got tear tats next to your eyes, right?

As much as I love the idea of wearing a scarf and gloves everywhere while I'm working I'm not so sure. Actually, that might be kinda fun being known as the scarf guy... :biggrin_2559:

And I've always told myself no face tattoos... Gotta keep the money maker looking good. When I had my neck done, the tattoo artist made sure to welcome me into the world of unemployment. Seemed funny at the time...

I never thought it was a good idea to judge a person by looks alone. How do you know? Grand Ma has a UZI in her bag. So many people, so many places all the time. It's a trip. Where am I going next? I really do want to see every state. Grand Ma fell asleep. Trucking is fun. life is hard.

I have been worried about my visible tattoos as well. Both sides of my neck and my throat are covered. My last job (Home Depot) did not mind. Im not a ex con by any means! Now when I go to apply at my first trucking company in the very near future, I will be wearing long a sleeved shirt to hide my arm tattoos and my neck will be semi covered from the collar of the shirt.....buttoned all the way up to the neck with a nice western bolo tie. Now I will be in the mindset like they are not even there.....by means of direct intelligent speech, a respectable manor, a firm hand shake and a confident look in my eye. Armed with that I hope that the company sees Im here to do business! If they do ask about what is drawn on my neck I will show them without delay..."why yes sir...you see on this side I have the face of an owl...my favorite bird..and on this side I have the in and out palm trees(im from So Cal) and on my throat I have a Pete 379!" Nothing gang related or anything to get offended by.....hell maybe the tat of the pete might even help me...who knows. So Im worried but at the same time Im trying not to be worried!

I find I get into more intresting convos when people see my tattoos. Had one person run up to me to look closer at all the detail on the one on my leg. Which turned into a 2 hour conversation.
