The military has always been famous for the low quality of food. I know at the Air Force Academy in Colorado we only had steak 4 times a week and lobster was only served on Sunday's.

 

I have never had the pleasure of tasting MRE's, but in Viet Nam we had the famous C-Rats.
Some were good, many were terrible. Best was Beanie Weenies or Spagetti and Meat Balls. Worse was Ham and Lima Beans. We used the H/LB as a punishment. You screw up , you got the H/LB.

 

Real mre have been hard to come by at the surplus stores around me.
