Yea, I have no clue about what is up with Yellow in CHI. I know that were in Omaha and yet we have Brown transfer picking up stuff for us in the Lincoln, Ne. area on the days we don't run out there. I think that stuff will stop on July 9th. That's the date we switch back to Hub and spoke for line-haul. For Sioux Falls all runs will be either MSP, or DES, with the exception of one meet with (MKM) Markham driver and one meet with (SPR) Springfield driver. For the P&D side there adding runs system wide to stop the donation to other companies.

I think the customer service at Vitran blows. I had a tranny go out in in Wilcox, Az and it took them OVER 2wks to get it over to Charlotte, Nc for warranty repair. Needless to say I did not use them to get the tyranny back and still ended up down in Wilcox for close to 5 wks...F'em.

I ran pm linehaul with them for awhile when it was Pjax.
I never worked with a bigger bunch of scumbags in my entire life.
I mean those were the kinda guys who give the truckin biz a black eye.
Linehaul drivers sat around thier hub terminals much of the time with
no detention pay. And thier dock crews were largely drug addicts
and Bob Marely wanna-bes. You could walk in their bathrooms and
smell the dope half the time.
From what I heard all drivers took a pay cut when Vitran took them
over and a lot of them jumped ship. From what I've heard their basic
##'d up way of doing things hasn't changed much over the years.
And they seem to have a hard time keeping drivers. Especially linehaul.
They're also on the DOT's hit list for repeated maintainance violations.Last edited: May 17, 2012

The tranny deal is pretty messed up, I'b be pissed too. I can't support or defend them much. I see it like this,... the guys I work with in Sioux Falls are pretty cool people, but when I venture too far outside that circle, it changes.

Look up the CSA scores before you choose a company, it will help you know if the equipment is well maintained.

I started work for in 04 and when it was bought out by Vitran I stayed on. I am or was out of the Roanoke terminal and did linehaul for them and I did not have a problem until Chris Keylon came on from Fed-Ex and started changing things around and it made it worse and after 7 and half years I just had to give it up. It is not a good place to work anymore.

what are the top 10 LTL carriers out there?

I currently work for vitran, most of the equipment that we have is so old that it should be used for artifical reefs. we only have 3 new trucks for line haul and we fight over them at night. seniority doesn't matter. health insurance, is semi expensive and you have to wait for a yr before you can get pre existing conditions covered. they want you to be dedicated to them, but they don't care about you. we are suppose to get a nickle raise this month, but i'm not holding my breath. i'm ready to go. they also want you to work the docks when you are there waiting for you load, and if you don't they will be more than happy to fire you. the new ceo is from fedex, and he is trying to make it into a copy i think. but he is changing everything, and the thing that matters least to him is the drivers. there is more and i could go on but for space i will say that i don't recommend them.
