I'm having a problem with my dash lights. The problem I have is the speedometer and tachometer do not light up. All my other gauges and lights work. It is only the tachometer and speedometer that do not light up. Is there any fix for this?

Today I rechecked all my connections, I took them apart and sprayed the electrical cleaner in them and reconnected to include the square box with bolt on the firewall where all the wires go through, also the round connector on the firewall as well. And i unplugged the two connectors on the right side of the engine block I believe one is the oil temperature sensor. I checked the green wire traced it to the box on the firewall everything seems to be good. After all this work now the dash lights has stopped flickering but the gauges are all still going crazy, except the fuel and air gauges are not acting up. I'm trying to avoid the volvo dealership but I don't know I may have to go and get f@@k. It just seem to me like it's a short in the ground somewhere but I don't know where all the ground are located on this demn truck.

Man I really feel your pain. When I was looking into your problem I saw some info about the gauge motor replacement. Here is another example and remedy not sure if its the right one for your problem, maybe you could compare notes with the OP in this thread. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...vnl-dash-cluster-gauge-troubles.243731/page-2

Solved my problem. I have waited long enough just to make sure the problem don't return before I post my final. My problem was definitely a grounding issue. I took off the white ground wire bolted to the engine block on the driver side of the engine. Cleaned it really well and bolted it back to the engine block and my problem is gone. Almost to weeks and all my gauges are working well like they are suppose to and no flickering, so I'm good to go. If problems arise again I will definitely let you guys know. For now thanks to all the inputs provided!

I had similar issue with my '14. I had a bad connection inside of the master shut off switch above the batteries. taking it apart, tightening it up, and reassembling fixed it for me. Talked to a dealership that said they have had issues with the switches, but they just replace them. I was also seeing my voltage fluctuate while going down the road.

On my truck 07 I don't have a master switch. My problem as stated above was the ground wires bolted to the driver side of the engine block. Very glad that solved my problem for sure.
