Making plans to upgrade the head unit and speakers. While finding information on the wiring for the head unit is easy. The speakers? Not so much.
The dash speakers look to be a 4 inch with a 1 inch tweeter. It's OEM, so I don't expect much of a crossover. And then 6.5 on the doors as well as the ones in the sleeper.
So if I wanted to replace the cab speakers. Would I need to consider Ohm rating? All 6 of the cab speakers work on the front channel.
This being a truck sound quality isn't going be demand but something better than the factory crap. I always liked Infinity for their efficient crisped sound but needed to tone the tweeters down.

You will have to determine how they are wired, meaning are all 3 on the left or right channel in parallel or do they have a mix of parallel and series wiring to make a certain impedance (most car stereos are designed for 4 ohm impedance which can be achieved by either putting 2 8 ohm speakers in parallel, 1 4 ohm speaker, or many other combinations) . It may be easier, and would be a better install, to run your own home runs of speaker line to each speaker. If you do it that way, you can install your own crossover to put the highs and high-mids to the dash, low-mids and bass to the doors and full range to larger speakers in the bunk for a more balanced and controlled sound. After all, if you are going to upgrade might as well make the best of it without breaking the bank.

I understand how Ohm's law works. Guess like most things I'm over thinking this project to the point of making it complicated.
Suppose a mid budget 3 way component package may fit the bill.
Considering that I mainly listen to audio books, podcasts, NPR and then music if I'm in mood. I shouldn't care so much but still do. My main objective is the replace the OEM stereo. -
I upgraded my headunit in my Volvo VNM42 but kept the factory speakers for a long time, it made a hugh difference. When I did finally change the speakers I opted to leave the door speakers in place, put a speaker level crossover in place to cut the bass out of the dash, wired them to the front channel of the headunit then installed new runs into the doors where I mounted 6" JBL 3 ways with some insulation behind them and a custom wood resonator box, big difference in sound quality.
Sorry for the basic explanation of Ohm's Law, I thought you might be familiar with it, most people wouldn't even think about impedance when changing components, but hey now a few more people will have something to think about when they upgrade their stereo units. Good luck, anything you do will be better than OEM, just be sure to use the rear mounting screw to secure the headunit, first one I ever did in a big truck I didn't bother and it vibrated enough to tear the DIN mounting tray which eventually resulted in the headunit becoming loose in the dash, plus the cd player would skip often.
