I have a '01 and the Owner's Manual and the decal on the Slave Cylinder Reservoir Fill Cap states to use DOT 4 Brake Fluid.
I would tend to believe it would be the same for all Volvo trucks, but maybe not.

I believe DOT 3 and 4 are compatible, so its not the end of the world if they mix. DOT 3 has a lower boiling point IIRC. DOT 5 is a totally different animal though.

air problem driver said brake not that good either and clutch pedal hard how much air pressure is on the gauges could be 4 way valve if no air at all

just the last post of mine i forgot to mention the four way valve control air pretty much the whole vehicle including seat, and clutch does the seat have air
