Hello, have you checked your fuel pump? I had a similar problem where the drive tang was broke off the fuel pump. May not be the problem but easy to check.

Hello, have you checked your fuel pump yet? I had one that was similar, kept losing prime, etc. Found the drive tang was broke on the fuel pump.

If the fuel pump drive broke off, then something is causing this... The accessory drive (the double pulley) has bearings that can wear out, remove both belts and check for up/down play. If one replaces the fuel pump, should also replace both fuel lines to the pump to prevent fuel line issues... The fuel pressure regulator(long banjo fitting after pump before head mounted on the intake manifold can give you similar issues. As for drawing air, volvo uses those clip fuel fittings from the secondary fuel filter base going back to the tanks, those tend to wear out with time and pull air... replace all your fuel supply and return lines from the base to the tanks, its cheap, and will eliminate any unnecessary issues, buy the fittings and bulk synflex, zipties, micro torch to lightly warm up the ends, and a case of beer.Manwitatruck Thanks this.

I have a D12A that is getting air in the system too. We've replaced all pipes and the pump, but while running we remove the overflow pipe and you can see the diesel keeps getting air bubbles coming out. We replaced the copper sleeves and had the injectors serviced.
