Volvo D13 reman engine

    This is my reman basic (3/4) D13, i've had instaled 2 weeks ago, comes wrapped like a Christmas gift toy for good boys.:) 31,000 cad ( about 24,000 USD 1.3 exchange rate as you see it, 41,000 cad/31000 USD instaled with new harness hoses, air compressor, starter, alternator, belts, pulleys,some sensors. I did the job at Volvo for extra warranty ,350,000 miles warranty if the job is done by dealer , i've been told it covers 250,000 if you buy it as part and swap motors in other shops.I had some minor sensor faults perhaps caused by new harness , but other than that pulling great, I'm getting +8mpg right now with 30k lbs in the box.



    Here the reason , noisy double idler gear failure on my previous motor combined with high miles, 1,189,000 mil . Faulty by design, Volvo used to have some recalls , gear pinning service .

    The motor was running ok, never added oil, no smoke good mpg. When I got first symptom, I was parked sleeping east of Dallas on I-30, idling and start hearing this noise at low rpm. I took it to Dallas at Volvo , on I-20, the diagnose was scary . Dropped trailer and drove it home to Canada , was making noise only at low rprm. I did another test, same diagnosis.
    I was quotted from 18 to 23,000 cad $ (1 usd=1.32 cad) for job in few Volvo dealers I called , here in Ontario. Expensive labour to replace a 400$ gear.
    I drove last truck 2008 780 D13 1,833,000 miles never had this problem.

    DaveLV described this issue very well here few years ago, double idler gear failure = engine failure.

    If anyone can help me I need to figure out why My d13 has rough throttle between 1400 and 1700 rpm. When I turn the truck off and restart it the first 3 throttle ups are good but then the 4th and so on are when the engine starts to miss.ive already changed injectors and injector cups, the mechanic thinks it’s an electrical issue

    What exactly is a rough throttle even mean? And why are you above 1500rpm's?

    That is the question. Why the h*ll are you revving that thing so high?????? I never go above 1600, ever. Never need to.

    I have troubles with this reman , :( 4 months since ,not pulling properly , all kind of problems with emission , smoking during regen.
    Yesterday i took it in shop, they found this sludge inside the rear side valve cover, possible coolant contaminating the oil. They removed the oil pan, pressurized the cooling system overnight ,it's holding pressure ,( i've been told with minimal 1 psi lost.) They found the oil refill tube cracked at the bottom, suggested could have allowed water from wheels to splash inside oil and cause this? ! Could water contamination cause this messy mayonnaise?
