A discrepancy between advertised horsepower and produced horsepower is not all that unusual.
Rumor has it that the Mercury marine engines produce 10-15% more than their advertised power ratings.
That being said, I would like to see the print-out from the dyno. -
no when we go on dyno the engine have to be stock, once a customer did a test on his isx with a "resistor" on the fuel system. he have a gain of 48 hp. but never test without egr. many people disconnect de valve egr, some of them see a better response and on the other see a diminution in engine brake and power. so how knows the truth!!!!
-
hey, have you ever go on dyno once in your life? i don't think so. the number i'm talking about are real and if i can find some dyno sheet i will post. a friend of mine go directly at the cummins distributor with his isx 565 hp with a low power and low fuel economy, the truck was almost new (20 000 km) before the adjustment: little bit under 500 hp and he was not within specification, after the readjustment 555 hp with fan on.
if you know nothing about engine, it's your problem. -
in your previous post the output power was higher than the input , where is the power losses?
lets presume the cummins dont corespond to specification in a good way so isx 500 puts 520 to the ground and with power losses(transmission, rolling) lets take around 10 percent ,his real power should be around 570, i can understand a difference in a few ponnies but 70?!Last edited: Jan 28, 2010

In less your hauling heay equipment...why 700 hp. Normal Freight....weight under 80,000 with hills doesn't require much h.p.
The majority of the time if your equipment is maintained the issued h.p. does the job with great fuel mileage.....don't reinvent the wheel...
