3.08-3.25 with a 13spd would've done u much better 3.42 is alot of cruise rpm for a Volvo engine low rpm powerband. Better for a ISX with those gears
Nope. Everything else is still very worn. And you'll be chasing that truck fixing it instead of having uptime making money. Trucks have a finite lifespan. These things just wear out..... Wires, bushings, bearings, seals, on and on and on If it was cheaper to do things like , patching up components ... Trust that fleets would be all over it.... It just isn't. Even doing it all yourself parts are very expensive and you're down not making money, adding to the losses. Keep track of downtime and monthly average repair costs. If your payment + average monthly expense of maintenance totals more than about $2000 and more than a week a year downtime , it just doesn't make good business sense to keep the used truck. Most people with used emissions trucks, 500k+ miles greatly exceed these #s on average...... QUICKLY
I don't go fast. I cruise at 64mph and lifetime mpgs was 7.1 for it. I used to get 7.5mpg until the past year. Now I'm not sure what is going on. Has 725k miles on it. As for shop visits.... It has been a long time. I will say it has never been towed. I think either my egr valve is broken or the CAC is leaking. The turbo whistle is really loud during a hard pull and above 40psi boost. Im probably going to have the hp restored from 500hp down to 455hp.
6.4 mpg average right now. I run alot in the Northeast. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and New York.
All of the above is true, but I really dislike paying 3000 per month on a new truck payment. Everything you said makes sense, but I still really hate making that payment. Downtime currently is very low, I keep a very close eye on everything that I can and so far haven't been that unlucky. I am thinking about a new truck but Volvo is currently pushing order dates into next year from what I have been told. So should I or not. I will think a little longer because the clock is ticking but I am not in a hurry.
Just do it by the #s that's the best way. When you look at the #s .. there is always, 100%... a time in lifespan that the cost of ownership can equal owning 2+ new trucks. Wish I could dial back the clock years ago with what i know now. Usually past 500k miles they start climbing the bottom of the "hockey stick" on maintenance expenses up until around 700-800k and they go almost vertical If your maintenance is low over the last 6 months keep going ..but..maybe plan on ordering with a slot that's farther out and hope nothing major happens between now and then.. buy it, wear it out...repeat ..lol Choosing the correct time to unload can have a major impact in your business's average profitability year over year
I know plenty of dealerships who have trucks laying around that the owners backed out on after the dealer recieved the truck due to the freight climate. Albany Mack has a big blue Globetrotter 860. 455 xe d13 ishift and 3.08 rears.
