you must complain about all the 2014+
Do you complain about all the newer model cars because it's the exact same thing

Apparently you don't read. I said those headlights with the HID kits in reflectors and projectors not designed for those bulb blind people. A little optic physics and geometry might be too complicated for you.
-
Oh boy. Here we go...
KB3MMX and dustinbrock Thank this. -
Well there are parts of what you said that I agree with, others are mute points. I personally use only the best kits, I use oem kits and actually swap out the projector itself for a oem quality bixenon kit. My bulbs are made by Osram (Silverstar) as are my ballasts.
But all that aside, the projector on a volvo has a cutoff line and if they aim them proper then they will not blind anymore than a factory f150.
Chinese bulbs I agree do not meet oem spec for the focal point. Morimoto Hid makes H11 bulbs that address this.
I see your type all the time so I know there is no winning this argument. To each Thier own but I will say this, if the bright lights on the road are too much for you.... it's time to get off the road because these lights aren't going anywhere.KB3MMX, Socal Xpress, mladen86 and 1 other person Thank this. -
All the bulbs are chinese or chinese hacked kits. Osrams does not make retrofit kits because they would be illegal and dangerous.

Maybe if you cannot operate a truck without blinding and endangering others you should get off the road. Have a little respect for the other drivers on the road. -
I love when people try and look smart but really aren't. I promise you my knowledge of lighting in general will far exceed you "googling" capabilities.
OSRAM does make hid lighting. It is oem as I said. Look up Osram nightbreaker.
As I stated, I remove the volvo projector and put in a oem xenon projector.
Here is a morimoto hid kit I put in my wife's 2015 equinox. Notice there is zero light above the cutoff line? Yes it's bright buy not above that line.
Instead of putting them in the reflector of my prostar or peterbilt I did conversions.
Now of course you'll complain about the legality of modifying the housing. Before you do, I hope you've never fudged your log book or rolled instead of stopping at a stop sign, hope you've never gone over the speed limit.
My lights are done right, they are brighter than most people's yet I have never once been flashed in any of my rigs. My drivers feel much safer driving and love them over the jw speakers because even with those, they got flashed alot.
I've now side tracked. Although I hate with a passion the cheap Chinese crap (and no, once again your wrong. They are not all made in China, just the junk ones) and don't like guys putting them in housings they are not meant for.... I know that in a halogen projector housing, they are not going to be overly blinding at all. You are literally arguing for the sake of it. Your mad because every other vehicle you meet is a civic or Silverado with hid in reflectors and it's left a bad taste in your mouth. It doesn't mean everyone who upgrades Thier lights is the devil.
As a side note. I do not like 6000k bulbs in big rigs. The higher on the Kelvin scale you go, the less lumen they output and the less lux meets the road. This is why most oem go for a 4500k or 5000k. Blue is cool for Toyota ricers but semi trucks need to see.KB3MMX and LandslideRich Thank this. -
That does not appear to be the case.
Again you didn't read. Work on that reading. I said, " OSAM does not make retrofit kits." Which you could have caught me on but you weren't smart enough. OSRAM does not make legal or approved retrofit kits but you weren't smart enough to take the bait. They clearly believe retrofitting a projector or reflector is Illegal:
https://www.osram.com/osram_com/too...xenon-headlamps-and-conversion-kits/index.jsp
OSRAM XENARC Conversion Kit is the latest advancement in state-of-the-art off-road lighting innovation. Offering double the lighting power of conventional halogen and incandescent lighting options, HID lamps provide brighter light and a wider visibility pattern, reducing strain on the driver‘s eyes. Durably constructed and exhaustively tested for temperature resistance and impact, vibration and water resistance, HID lamps are built to last, saving drivers time and money in replacement and maintenance.
This product is not ECE-approved and therefore may not be used on public roads. The use on public roads will cause the termination of the operating license of the vehicle and the loss of insurance cover.
You just trying to be a smart ### here?
And you make 99.9% more effort then any one else screwing around with their headlights. So good job on encouraging idiots on doing a half-### job and blinding people when it is 100% unnecessary.
Maybe, maybe not, who knows how well your conversions is done. How can we test and be sure? I could take you on your word that it is 100% professional done, never blinds anybody, never goes out of focus, never fails, or never needs re-aiming. Lets say were all respecting each other and each other's craftsmanship, and each other on the road. Are your extra bright lights necessary to drive? Is everybody going to take your level of craftsmanship to heart? Is anybody?
Bottom line they are not, and should not be needed on the road, and your just encouraging others who will not have whatever level of craftsmanship or respect you have, take this crap seriously.
Almost all are made in China. Many of the ones that claim they aren't are made in China and just repackaged elsewhere. Where do you think China got the technology? It is from manufacturing everybody else product.
Sorry self appointed lighting expert, any projector only works when the geometry of focal point is the same as the designed bulb. That is why the DOT and ECE specify different H-x bulbs. It is a 100% geometry thing. Get the focal point wrong, like all retrofit bulbs, and a projector can be worse then a reflector. -
Of course osram doesn't make retrofit kits, they make the oem ones I am talking about.
Ford f150 hid kit is osram
Ford f150 Led headlights built by osramKB3MMX Thanks this. -
And maybe we have a mixup between you and I as to what the word retrofit means in regards to headlights.
You are referring to retrofitting as using a plug and play hid kit.
I am reffering to retrofitting as taking oem hid projector setups and retrofitting them into a reflector housing.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I hate the people who have driving lights on all the time . If in traffic, turn off the 1000watt light bar in the grill!
