ive had many problems with those plugs unless it a plug behind the dash somewhere,
also what codes are getting should look some what like mid ... p... fmi... if you post the codes i can look them up for you and also give us the j..... datalink codes.
had one the other day it had no acc pedal and come up with a ####load of codes then it come up with a couple of data links and we said to the driver unplug those ####ing plugs and problem solved. -
I would guess broken wire leading to instrument cluster . I had a similar problem, but hitting cluster wouldn't 'fix' it. Turned out it was couple broken wires on firewall on engine side. If you're in Chicago talk to Naz. He's a expert.
-
trouble is he is getting some data link codes so if he reply's with the codes we can trace further it is quite possible for a broken wire
-
I have a fault code mid 140 pid 158 fmi 3. I checked voltage at battery and alternator its 14.2 and i checked the voltage at the fuse to the cluster its at 14.08
-
Also have a Sae J1939 data link data. Irratic but its inactive
-
what the last five numbers of your chassis number should letter D for instance D129342 also you model FH so on maybe you have a short between instrument cluster and the fuse

Fidus, what was the problem? I have exactly same issue and can't find what is wrong. I will appreciate if you share your solution.

Sorry i never provided the solution. I replaced the cluster and the problem went away. Just do not make my mistake, i bought a used cluster for $400 and a month later its garbage. Spend the $900 and get one from Volvo that is for your truck, they program is based on your vin#
