Received a Safety Recall Alert from Volvo this evening. They are requesting all trucks manufactured between May 11, 2015 through March 8, 2016 be TAKEN OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY!
The dual steering shaft is defective and can separate causing complete loss of steering control...
A temp fix solution should be in place by March 14, however, the dual shaft will have to be completely replaced with a single shaft as soon as they are manufactured and available.
I have attached a photo of what steering shaft looks like.

What is the date May 11 ???? through March 8 2016?

That was my question. They agreed to pay for towing to nearest Volvo dealership. However, hesitated when I asked if they would pay for a sub-truck in the interim. They said "keep your receipts and submit them to us."

I work at a Volvo dealership. This recall potentially affects all VN product and VNX as well. Guys, take this seriously! If your truck has one of these 2 piece steering shafts, there is the potential for total loss of steering control. Look under your hood. If your steering shaft is silver in colour, and has a joining collar about a foot down from the rubber boot near the firewall, you are affected. Park it, and call a wrecker to tow to the nearest dealer IMMEADIATLY!
