its cheaper to add the pedal than replace shifter that shifter is around $550 to $750 pedal is cheaper than that but there is alot more ability to gain power using shifter than pedal, Just a matter of driving it half manual when you need the power.

I thought so, but its annoying when I am going in 12th and climbing a long hill and have to tap the shifter button. Manual mode I don't use too often at all. P+ I never use. I always feel like P+ is going to end up making something break.

so the P+ mode is like a go baby go button, the best thing it will do when you switch to P+ is will hold rpm higher before asking for the next gear, when you are climbing a hill u get rpm down to 1100 hit P+ and Minus button so it shifts down should go to about 1500-1600 rpm and hold accelerator steady you will think you are climbing with a pete from the power it will put out. Volvo has optimal power at about 1600-1700 rpm this is when you are putting the most torque on the truck, with E mode it will shift up at that speed with P+ it will not try to shift up until you hit about 1800-1900 rpm you will not break anything this is what they are made for.

I will. I have tried it once on flat, and it seemed to be a hoss. I know it is going to sound stupid but part of the reason I don't switch it to P+, and I know it seems stupid, but someone on one of these threads said "switching between E and P+ will damage the transmission". It seems to be inaccurate information as I doubt Volvo would have made it in such a way it is going to destroy the transmission and it will switch itself back to E eventually when in P+. So my question is, it is perfectly fine to switch between them when needed, or don't?

My truck has miles on it, it's my first truck. The mere thought alone, though it doesn't make sense that it will damage the trans switching to P+ and back to E is part, or more all the reason I don't use it.

E is made for Economy and P stands for performance there is absolutely nothing wrong shifting between the 2 people are morons, the truck was made for this type of use this is how it was designed miles or not.

I appreciate the clarification. It sounded dumb to me someone saying it will mess it up switching between the 2 while driving. But in the chance they knew something I didn't, I chose to go with caution and not do it. Thank you sir I will try that before going to extremes.

Use the tools the truck is designed for. If driving in the mountains and need to get the truck going use that Power Mode. It works great when needed and I change mine when needed especially if I am in a hurry to get through the mountains.

Oh I will use it from now on. It's just reading the one post I had, which was on TTR thats said switching it while driving could damage the transmission, it made me kind of not want to. Sounded rather silly that someone would say that, but with 700K miles when I got the truck I didn't want to risk it.
