Volvo vnl d12 j1939 data link erratic no communication

    When driving my truck it may lose power then kick back in once i let off the pedal and step back on it then i get message check engine ECU at next stop constantly then right after that i get messages check transmission at next stop then truck only lets me go in 1 or 2nd gear but all codes come back as j1939 data link communication erratic

    Do you have a multimeter and know how to use one? Which data connector does your truck have?
    It should be located just below the instrument panel to the right or left of the steering column.
    It also could have two data connectors.

    I just purchased one but iam not familiar with using it and iam not sure on what data connector i have i can take a picture and send it to you so you can see it but iam willing to learn because if i can save myself money on fixing my truck myself iam down for it

    There are two types you could have both. the one below is the most common.

    With the key OFF measure between pin C and D you should read very close to 60 Ohms.
    With the key ON measure between pins A and C you should read close to 2.5 volts.
    With the key ON measure between pins A and D you should read close to 2.5 volts and slightly less than the reading between A and C.

    Between pin C and D iam getting 0.46 and 0.47

    With key on getting 1.38 for pin A and C and Pin A and D 1.41

    Are the faults active when you are testing the voltage?

    The codes was inactive and the transmission code was gone but i did notice a wire on my starter could that have been the reason
