It look like your shifter generate a problem, when the shifter is connected and energized the Data Link voltage is not OK in both circuit but when it is disconnect your voltage look OK, is the voltage 2.5 v is fluctuating ?
If you look at the tech tray, check for Tranny fuse (F35) and remove it, i'm not sure for the tranny fuse position on 2004 truck, look at the sticker under the cover over the fuses to find it. If so, remove transmission fuse and erease all code using you cluster, check which code will come back ? Ben
Ok will do that in the morning. Now question is that shifter considered as some kind of esu or controller module and so on, or it's just a switch. Thanks Ben again.
Yes, normally there is a computer(MID ???) inside of the shifter. Do you have a picture of your shifter, is it a Key Pad style ?
Hi. Again I spend my whole day in the garage trying to figure out this mess. I was able to pull up transmission code with key on/off the code is 35= j1939 data link problem. I wonder if there is any way to bench test that shift console/shifter . I did the test of the Eaton web site to see if data link somewhere is shorting out and stuff everything checks out perfect. Again this test required to disconnect the shifter console , all the test was done between shifters plug and engine ecm plug, because code 35 said that no communication between transmission and engine if I understood correctly.
Hi. Just left volvo parts department. They leaning toward the controller/ console. The problem is that that sucker cost 1500 dollar's. They pretty sure that it doesn't have to be programmed, there is procedure that have to go through in order to make all ecm's communicate with each other. 1500 dollars is kind of expensive guess. My question is can I test the controller to see if data things are messed up inside of that controller. Thanks Andy
