Wilkins rebuilders supply in Chicago would be the cheapest on a new takeout type of deal probably around 3k and can usually talk them into taking about anything that works for a core. Talk to rich.
You can get away with a 18918 just fine or even less. We have run some rto12513s with some fairly hot b and c model 3406 engines and never had trouble other than temperature because they didn’t have a cooler.

well this is all that has happened so far this week. Hopefully going to get something done tomorrow. If only we had a 24 foot brake then I wouldn’t be welding these parts together.JoeyJunk, OLDSKOOLERnWV, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
How ever much you spend rebuilding an old truck will be a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Not only will you have the benefit of running paper logs, but you will have an non emission truck without all the bs

Good to know i already got a core for my cat i can fix. But if he has transmissions id be happy to take one of his 18s off him and give him my eaton 13. makes me wonder if i could interface a B or C series cat into my pete though....eh thats for later when im more sure of myself ima stick to a 6NZ for now. Good reliable workhorse that i already am decent at working on.
That being said i know where a 1974 dodge bighorn with a cracked block and sleeper on it is sitting. Owner is reluctant to sell it but in a few years if its still there im going to see if i can weedle him into selling it to me pretty sure $15K in cash will do it. If not i know his kids amd even his wife hate it and would give it to me for free if i got rid of it. It has the remains of a big al under the hood for some reason but im sure i can get a B model or C model in there. Also its yellow and brown with neon purple stripes...so paintjob. Ill see if i can get a picture of it next time i run corn for him and can get into his equipment shed. -
If you ever did the math on chains at fairly flat angles, you'd be bending rafters on a regular basis!Vampire, Oxbow, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.

That would be an interesting sight….
I think I might have the construction/industrial version of what they called big al in trucks if you want to keep it original. -
Usually i would for the pure classic value, but there is a huge chunk missing from the block. Apparently the reason it got parked is because it threw a rod. Too bad too because its still factory purple.

Many have no clue what a Big Al engine is….
-
Guy here in WV owns 5 I believe of the Big Horns. Usually has a few of them inside the building at MATS In Louisville…. -
got my frame liner welded up today and it stayed nice and straight but couldn’t put it in because I was by myself…hopefully tomorrowJoeyJunk, Vampire, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this.
