Truck routes don’t matter it’s 14’ curb to curb in most states for unmarked bridges/wires, that’s on the electric company. Even residential neighborhoods they still need a way to get any building material/fuel/general #### in to get delivered

I would say that's not on the driver..sure maybe you should notice the powerline is low and u might hit it... but if you have already turned down the road.. What is a guy gonna do ? Can't just backup or turn around a truck...and it's impossible to know exactly how high they are because there is no clearance sign on it like a bridge has... if you have ever driven below a 13'6 bridge with a 13'6 trailer it looks like it's gonna come thru ur windshield its so low, but you still have clearance... Its impossible to judge that height from the cab unless it's clearly marked... which electric and cable lines are supposed to be set to a certain height...It should teach the electric company to do their job correctly...now they just made more work for themselves. if it was reported low many times and nothing was ever done about it. That's on them...
Its up to you to decide if there's any discipline to the driver... I find when I start asking the question of if I should do something, I already know the answer in my gut... just not confident in the risk taking part of it. Whatever that risk may be... but my gut feeling has never led astray... if I were you I would trust my gut.. If they were a good driver that never gives you problems and gets the job done, day in and day out. then I think you wouldn't be asking the question of if you should get rid of them. Just something to think about. Ultimately I would trust your gut feeling of the situation, to determine what you do from here. Let us know how it goes.Rideandrepair, JolliRoger, Midwest Trucker and 5 others Thank this. -

I am not sure I would fire the man unless he has been questionable since hired on and has 3 years with you.
If I could get my hands on the reports I would hire an attorney and go after them for cost of downtime and repairs myself.
I would think the driver would had noticed if it was down to low. At least slowed down to the point if he did hit it would not of done much damage and surely not damaged the truck. How low was it?Rideandrepair, Midwest Trucker and Feedman Thank this. -
10 MPH over with messing up cab extender and now this. I think I would really consider terminating the driver. You pay pretty good so drivers do not damage the equipment. I like HIGH STANDARDS so I would most likely go with Termination.Midwest Trucker and Feedman Thank this.

I disagree with seeing the line myself. Anytime I go into a low bridge I slow down when it looks like I am gonna hit it, sometimes as slow as 2-5mph. Also I watch all the #### wires all the time I am super paranoid about hight stuff and maybe it is just me.Midwest Trucker, D.Tibbitt and dwells40 Thank this.

I would think since you do oilfield work that people know how to drive in those conditions. I would be super Pissed over this one unless you just hire anyone and then well, it would be your fault for hiring such low standards. To me Oilfield work would have to be super high quality people to get hired. I would not want anyone messing up my set up in the oilfield. One bad move and you can be banned from working with that company. At least that was my experience working in oilfield.

Not disagreeing with that. But if the wires are supposed to be set at a certain height.. And the truck and trailer are legal height , then I'm not sure how any blame could be put on the trucking company if it hits that wire, when it's supposed to be set much higher then the legal height of a truck tractor...the cable and phone lines are notorious for always being low where I liveRideandrepair, Siinman, Midwest Trucker and 5 others Thank this.
