Here's another option I've seen but is getting more scrutiny all the time. I won't mention names or anything, but I know of shops willing to throw pre-emission engines in these late model trucks. You're looking at $65k, but to have a proven engine and decent support from a local independent shop may not be such a horrible deal. That's not the direction I'm going with my next truck, but I know of one guy that I work with that swapped to Detroit from an isx and another planning to do that with his paccar when the time comes. These newer trucks seem to be getting somewhat better, but the price tag to play the game is also getting ridiculous.

I read your posts about your new truck problems with attention.
Maybe I am in the minority here but if what happened to you, would ever happen to me, I wouldn't find internal peace without teaching them a lesson. They would fix that truck for me! Besides, they can't just think that people would just let it go. Buying problems for $200 000 ?! I'd have them eat that truck before letting it go. They must fix it or make it right!

I can't see any contract worthy of spending up to $299K for what is basically a factory truck, even with all the bells and whistles.

They will sit . Sit and eat dust. No doubt market is at the end of oversupply so still good 3 months of downtime before we see tender rejection rate start climbing. The survival right now is slash the price run the competition out of business while still making profit. That 300k truck will not give anyone enough leeway to slash the price.

Take off the APU, auto chains, Seattle package interior, paint work both inside and out, half fenders, visor, and all the glass lense lights and it would be about $30k or so less.

Rideandrepair, dwells40 and Siinman Thank this.
