    Like the others, you’re making the load a variable of the tractor. Throw that out. Tractor to tractor, same load, the aero tractor will mileage better. We’re only talking about the tractor. Not the gearing, engine, transmission, paint color, or anything else.

    But that’s not necessarily true. There are some loads that are just so aerodynamically horrible and pull so hard that it doesn’t matter the styling of the truck. The fuel economy will be basically the same. You don’t automatically start at +1 mpg because it’s an aero.

    If an aero truck is spec'd crappy it won't perform any better or worse then a well spec'd flat nose truck.

    There are a lot of trucks spec’d horribly on both sides.

    No doubt, And I would guess well over 75 percent at this point are spec'd wrong for the job they are doing.
