Spoke to my guy today. He said summer to 3rd quarter unless he puts me on his allotment that he just got for the first half of the year. He was alloted 95 trucks and has demand for 400.

Also said the Cummins shortage is still a really big thing. He can get me two early 24 if I take the Paccar but maybe one if I have to have the Cummins. So, it’ll probably be 1 Cummins early 24 and 2 Cummins 680’s 3rd quarter 24.

I think they are slow walking orders to keep prices from crashing

Ok back by demand Here's this week's update, I'll continue to update weekly:

    August 26, 2023
    389 Peterbilt - 170.........14 389X's
    579 Peterbilt - 318
    T680 KW - 497
    W9 KW - 111
    Cascadia - 66
    Volvo Family - 129
    Mack - 59
    International - 89

A pretty big increase since my last update 2 weeks ago, 78 more units for sale. I know the dealer that I bought my 579 from just posted about ten 579's for sale so it might be time to see if they are ready to wheel and deal for another one lol.

I pick-up my 579 this week and of course it never fails as the truck I'm trading in had a flat and the AC quit working. It's like the trucking gods are playing games with me.

Changing subjects, August is pretty much in the books for us. It was an ok month. Nothing that would make someone go buy another truck but something one can live with as August is seasonally a slow month. I do know I'm getting excited to see what kind of fuel mileage I'll get with the 579.

Would it be better to buy trucks already on the ground? I mentioned here before I was going to order one specd the way I'd like it but after hearing this I might be better off getting one that's on the ground even if it's not fully specd how I'd like it.

If the ones on the ground have a spec you can operate with nearly as well as what you’d had in mind, it can be better to go with ones they have. They’ll be a little more willing to deal on the price and terms on those. But if the difference in specs are too much of a compromise, it really isn’t worth it.

Like if the difference is a 13 instead of an 18 or 3.36 rears instead of 3.25 rears, that’s not big enough jump up and down about IMO if you need one quickly or they’re willing to deal on them. But if they’re a condo sleeper where you only need a mid roof or flat top (or vice versa) or the wheelbase is way too short (or too long). Or if it’s a fuel spec truck and you need something with some versatility.

    Here's this week's update:

    September 2, 2023
    389 Peterbilt - 168.........15 389X's
    579 Peterbilt - 356
    T680 KW - 497
    W9 KW - 109
    Cascadia - 66
    Volvo Family - 137
    Mack - 58
    International - 92

An increase of 43 of 2023 and 2024 trucks from last week. My new truck is making its first trip this weekend so I'm excited to see the fuel savings especially with some of the trash rates I'm seeing. I don't know if it's me but in the reefer world It just feels like rates are itching to jump. With northern crops beginning there's just a feel seasonal volume is about to jump with rates following.

I do know I'm glad Monday is the final holiday for a while. They sure mess up the flow of a week.
