    I love it!

No way would I ever spec that rear suspension, though. It’s the harshest riding option PACCAR have.

I don’t see how that flex pipe will last. There’s an awful lot of repetitious, vertical movement in a cab, over lots of miles.

That elbow going into the stacks should’ve been designed better, as he pointed out. Also, that should’ve just been a 90° elbow, like one would see on a set of chimneys. That 45° angle just looks cheap.

I would’ve done a longer fuel tank on the right and moved the DEF tank to in front of the left tank. That way both tanks protrude from under the bunk and line up, without the DEF tank being such eyesore, hanging way back on the frame.

I disagree with his assessment of the center screen, in the dash. The mechanical gauge package looks like a mismatch. The screen is far more integrated, appealing, and useful.

I can’t even fathom the fuel costs of running this thing.

The exhaust mount looks similar to a W900. Solid mount to the frame and probably a slide rod up on the cab.

The 45* elbow is similar to what the factory exhaust was on the 359’s and 379’s.

Solid mount to the cab and frame, with an automotive-style flex pipe in between.

Siinman, Oxbow and Long FLD Thank this.

    Here's this week's update:

    October 6, 2023
    389 Peterbilt - 157.........16 389X's
    579 Peterbilt - 434
    T680 KW - 522
    W9 KW - 116
    Cascadia - 142
    Volvo Family - 219
    Mack - 72
    International - 118

An almost 10% increase from last week...151 new units for sale. I know how mentioned in another thread but it seems volumes have dropped this week. I'm hoping this is the great big washout we need. I saw the Rush dealer in Dallas has some 389's available which you could still pick the color for. Quite the market flip when every dealer was saying they were sold out months ago.

The 379 used a 58 degree elbow and the 59 used either a 45 or a 60. I know those numbers are not even close but for some reason I was thinking it changed very little. There are 2 spool lengths for the 379 an early and a later. I think with 5 and 6 inch exhaust the factory elbow looks better. 7 or 8 go long drop.

I’m curious what a set of pooch pipes, a visor, trim panels and a bumper would do to it. You know some body gonna try it. It’s not my cup of tea, though it’s certainly not as bad as it could be.

    That’s huge! Something’s gotta’ give.

I feel like Peterbilt are missing out on a huge revenue opportunity, by not offering some basic stuff. What you listed are staples on every hood. If I worked for them, I’d be pushing to build an accessory catalog.

MHC has knocked $25000-$30000 off nearly every new unit they have on the ground in the past few days. Do with that info what you will….

Funny you should say that, I saw that too and was interested in a T680 they have but they offered me $30K less on my trade than every other dealer, so I assume that’s how they can afford to cut their prices…just take it off your trade.

Trucking is pretty bleak right now. Hoping it turns around isn’t a strategy. I think capacity is beginning to bleed off but it seems like the consumer is cutting back consumption.

That was my thinking as well. But if a guy is looking to buy with no trade that changes the game too.
