So the first week in the T680 (450HP Cummins Efficiency 2.79 rears) and the fuel mileage has been disappointing. We averaged 6.3MPG. I know it's just the first week and getting broken but that seems low to me. Plus the torque seems to be governed back, it shows it's at 88%. Anybody have any experience with that? Is that normal? To me that would be killing the fuel mileage. Any experience/input would be appreciated. I'm hoping this is just the breaking in phase and we get close to 8's or this will be short lived experiment. I mean my 579 with a 500HP Cummins is getting 7.7MPG on a consistent basis.

I don't want to go to that extreme yet. Today we went 595 miles across Nebraska into Wyoming and it burned 110 gallons, so it averaged 5.4MPG. 40K in the box a slight head wind but nothing that would cause it to get such a poor performance. I mean my 389 would have gotten better fuel mileage than that.

A guy doesn't realize just how much you are climbing from North Platte to the top of Sherman though. It's a pull most of the way.

This whole fuel mileage thing is new to me so it's a learning process but I sure the heck expected better than 5.4MPG across that stretch. And the torque reduction just doesn't seem right. Maybe it's only at 88% because it's protecting something but what?

I got nuttin, but my newest truck is a 2000 model. I will say that in some conditions when you are pulling hard all the aero stuff doesn't gain you much when you have to suck all that air through one small under the hood air filter, rather than two large external cans.
