Just got notified of a $5600 increase per truck for any Paccar built class 8 after 4/1/22
So, that’s a $25,000 increase per unit from last fall to this spring builds.
My 3 reefers that I bought last spring were 75k each and that’s buying trailer and unit separate to save money. Same thing this spring 111k for units today and trailers July. TK said no more reefer units until first of next year so I bought them now.
####s getting real on the equipment inflation front as manufacturers catch up to the private markets. Add fuel rising in and $3/mi seems like the new 2/mi.
Waiting on New Trucks thread.

At least your trailer dealer is returning your calls. When the market inevitably turns the other direction, I'll have a long memory for the ones that couldn't act right.

I went to my local tk the other day for something and asked about upgrading the unit since for as little as I do a new trailer is out, i got laughed at was told for 5k I can get on the 2024 listJoeyJunk, Siinman and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

Well my normal dealer has been worthless, and my backup dealer hadn’t been able to get me anything. So, I basically contacted about 20 different dealers and only 2 responded. One was a waiting list game and one had 3 unsold for July but had no units for them. Thankfully was able to piece things together with my TK dealer. Just in time though.
Yeah, it’s pretty wild. Wabash has completely quit building reefers and all the other manufacturers are at a fraction of normal production. But ####, if there’s no units to put on them anyway, then it doesn’t matter.
The next run will be on APU’s. I may have already mentioned it in this thread but I bought two TK Evolution for these two new trucks I just put on the road. Hopefully will install soon, they are figuring out how to implement it with my fuel tank heaters. I’m now going to get two more for my end of May builds before those are sold out through end of the year. :eyeroll:
It’s tough to keep ahead of this crap.
Edit: I’ve never ran anything but bunk heaters but things were getting close to being feasible for APu before Russia/Ukraine and now it’s going to be required hardware it seems. There is another 13k to add to the 25k increase per truck. $38,000 Brandon’s in less then a year. lol we must, or cry..Last edited: Mar 5, 2022

I wonder if a lot isn't just the dealers taking advantage. One of my O/O's ordered a new Pete a few weeks ago for before the end of the year. 190K (20K over last years price) I have two more supposed to be built this month and two more by the end of the year, those just have a "normal" new year increase.

I cancelled 15 reefers because the increase would have been almost 300K more than the last ones. Can't justify that much.

I would think they would have to make more on them now with not getting the same inventory as before.Oxbow Thanks this.

Could had sold half them and made it work. Ha ha

Understand that, but it seems like some dealers are going overboard.
Like a 35% increase on a trailer.Blue jeans, JoeyJunk, RedForeman and 5 others Thank this. -
