There is more to it than that. Now there are drivers sitting and waiting on containers because there are nowhere to put them. A guy did a time-lapse video of the long Beach port yesterday I think. Not a single crane moved all day.
Waiting on New Trucks thread.

That sounds like your typical union facility.Blue jeans, JolliRoger, runningman0661 and 4 others Thank this.

Well, I agree. I hate unions altogether, however, they are trying to change there. They are trying some sort of pilot program on hours. So they are running 2 shifts instead of one. However, the guys say it's not working because the hours don't link up with the logistics. I'm not, nor hopefully ever will be a container guy.....so I really don't understand how it works. However, this guy has a great show:

Order 2022 Volvo 860 on 5/17/21 to be built in 2nd week of Nov. 21. Was pushed back to being built 3rd week of Jan. 2022. Reason given was the strike that Volvo had for almost two months. Have not heard of any more push backs on timing delays from Volvo.

And because there's nowhere to move the containers to, there's no chassis left to use. Average dwell time of a chassis used to be a couple of days, now it's almost three times that. We just received a container of parts that came through the Port of Long Beach THREE WEEKS AGO. Normally, that container would be put on a chassis, run to our farm the same day and the truck return the container / chassis back through the port same day. This one took three freaking weeks.
Multiply that by a couple of thousand containers a day, and you have a s### show of epic proportions.Vampire, Blue jeans, Lostkeys and 3 others Thank this. -
Right now Volvo is only talking a couple of thousand for that model year increase. Instead of a 2022 you'll have a 2023Siinman and shooter19802003 Thank this.

I do not , the sun has set on getting that done in my area .Dave_in_AZ, Speed_Drums, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

That is correct and no up charge was added. Was told 3-4 percent increase for next year.shooter19802003 Thanks this.
-
Mine were supposed to be here a while back, was ready to cancel until i was told just model year increase.shooter19802003 and Siinman Thank this.

Did they give you a build date yet? I took a slot that was preordered from the dealer and just changed the stuff to what I wanted. So in reality the truck was on order a month or two before I got on the list.Vampire, shooter19802003 and Midwest Trucker Thank this.
