So did they not give you the option to not have the 5 min idle shut down off the build? Mine had it in the original build spec and I had them remove it for me on the build side. I have a EPU installed so it was not gonna be an issue but I don't like that idea incase something ever went wrong and I need it running.

    D.Tibbitt and OhNoTerry Thank this.

I was wondering the samething. Came across a guy on Facebook that had this issue and did not open up his tanks when he got the truck.

In the eighties and nineties guys used to hate the first 30K miles or so while working out the bugs as well so this is nothing new, but I'm afraid there are a lot more bugs to work out now.

I would like the idle timer as long as you can turn it off and on, but I guess that isn't an option anymore.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I know on mine we tried a PTO switch on the spec sheet and there still had to be a value put in for the idle shutdown timer. That’s when we started messing around and found out that you can set it for over 1000 minutes.

Yikes. To think I went through almost every detail I could but this EPA21 business coupled with what I want to call my salesman’s ignorance is becoming a gong show. He himself said his paperwork shows all I need is 3k miles on the odometer to be able to shut off idle timer. Going to call them and see if they have an update yet or not.

D.Tibbitt, Oxbow and Siinman Thank this.

Wasn’t even told it was an option. From what I understand, having a certain warranty with the emissions is why I needed to wait for 3k miles to do this. My salesman was adamant and even referred to his paperwork to say we shouldn’t be having an issue with this.

Idle times are different and can't be changed if the truck is ordered for CA sale. Doesn't mean it's not CA legit if it isn't.

Update on Idle Shut off: So this apparently if their first ever issue with having being locked out of being able to change the idle shut off parameters. Service says there’s a discount put on the truck for having it and there’s a $500 administrative fee to alter the idle parameters. Luckily before I could say something she said the sales department will cover this fee (I just about said f this over the phone too). As they should. There’s an application process the dealer has to do to get the password is what I’m being told and they’re going to submit said application tomorrow. They don’t know if this “green house gas vehicle” idle shut off/parameters is something that was specced or if it’s something entirely new and put in place for ‘23 trucks.

Crazy you had to have it for the warranty. I never had any issue with taking it off and keeping my warranty intact the same as when it was on build sheet.

No, it's what i posted. It was CA sale spec'd. If a salesman doesn't know, they should learn it.
