The Phase 2 greenhouse gas stuff all works off a point system and it’s all part of the Obama-era class 8 fuel economy standards. Limiting what can be changed after the fact keeps the truck at the “points” it left the factory with. Right or wrong that’s the world we’re living in. It’s also up to the consumer to be familiar with new regulations and with what is going on to make sure they get what they want in case the salesman misses something.

When I went in to order my truck I wanted the updated version of the 579. When I found out it had to be EPA21 I researched a little and decided I still wanted the updated one. When it was ordered we maxed out the idle timer and set the speed at 85 just because at the time nobody knew what could be changed. On the point system I lost points for the idle timer, speed, tires, and no APU.

Yeah I know, not arguing with you it just seems wrong. Especially considering that had manufactures been allowed to put the same resources into efficiency rather than emissions, I think a good case could be made that the net impact on the environment would have been less than the route they have taken. It is probably not far-fetched to say that MPG could have been 20% better if not for having to bastardize engines to work with the emission systems. Consider the environmental footprint of reduced fuel efficiency due to emission systems, def production, def containers, emission system production, additional trucks required to haul def and extra fuel to truck stops, additional tires etc. for those trucks, and on and on.

Having driven in Los Angeles in the 70s through 90s I am not so close-minded to think that emission standards haven't had a positive effect in some situations, but it seems that, like other things, the emphasis is more on administrative agenda and gaining control over the population rather than purely what is best for the environment.

I'll fall off my soap box now!

It's just like cars back in the early 70's. You had 49 state and CA.
It did make a difference in CA, i remember when you were going down Cajon and it was a yellow haze near the bottom. Like you were wearing yellow tinted glasses.

I was sitting at a flag man stop on a 6% grade with foot on brakes , just as I was about to move , the darn thing shut off I had to set brakes let gauges do sweep to restart truck I was pissed because guy behind me blew horn rightfully when I didn’t move .

Well truck is back and I have the camera system all updated on the truck but still need to do the trailer. Tomorrow will be my first load in it as well. EPU seems to work very nice so will get a first hand use on it as well. Still have a few things I want to add in the truck but will do some of it in time and on the road.

Well, finally finalize some specs for 2 new trucks....decided to put Eaton Auto 18's in them.

I'm so sick of not only having to train guys for the job but also train them how to drive standard 18's.

So freakin sick of it. Lets try these new trannys out and hope for the best in my industry.

Not the same as class 8 trucks by any means, but just for comparison I ordered a 2022 F350 on 11/08/22. I received an email this morning stating that it was built yesterday, and should be at the dealer between May 19 to 25th.

There are none on the lots of local dealers.

That’s good news. I have a f350 on order as well since February and haven’t received any updates from ford yet. I’m thinking that it won’t even get built. I believe they are switching to MY 23 in September from what I’m reading online.

That camera system would’ve been handy for me trying to blind side at 12 am at the Space Age in Hermiston. Might be time to get some cameras and LED lights wired to this wagon. Are yours giving you 720-1080p at minimum?

1080 p was max I believe. But it does a very good job at night and dusk looks like mid day. Still have to wire my trailer up. Might do it this next week.
