I stopped doing that when the company I drove for was forced on Elogs due to a fatality wreck. That was before Elogs became mandatory. The Feds told the company; "You have 30 days to be on Elogs or you will be shut down."

Years ago when I was hauling cattle I ran really hard and often outside of the HOS. One run in particular that W900L only stopped long enough to unload and reload 4 seperate times for 23 hours of straight running. Days later I was at home in bed dreaming, that run in my mind...

I dreamed that I was driving very tired late at night under load and fell asleep at the wheel, then I woke up in my dream as I was going off the road at speed, at that moment I woke up in real life with a death grip on my pillow and stomping the foot board of my bed. It took me a few minutes to realize it had been a dream and then calm down, and I couldn't go back to sleep. From that moment on I swore I would NEVER push myself like that ever again.

I still have that dream on occasion if I'm have had a very stressful day and/or am extremely exhausted. One of these days that dream will probably kill me by giving me a heart attack.

That first time I had it is by far the most terror and fear I have ever felt... It is not a pleasant feeling.

I shouldn't admit this, but in those old pill popping days, I've actually had to look at the BOL to jog my memory as to where I was headed.

I woke up one night and felt the truck swaying back and forth for approximately 30 seconds. Found out later there was an earthquake in california.

Driving at night, or most of it, awake but when you park, you do bot really recall driving, or how you decided to park where you seem to be. This has been bothering me as of late.
This is being awake for a whole shift no nap, and being awake when you park just trying to retrace your driving mentally but it's blank?

Lord knows how many times that exact thing has happened to me... I can remember loading, unloading, getting fuel, but I can't remember most of the driving... Sometimes I have to wait until daylight to figure out just exactly where I'm at... Hopefully the scenery jogs my memory or I might be a little out of route.
