Sometimes when pulling an older trailer, there will be a sudden jolt after sitting an hour or two. Finally figured out it was the trailer's air lines evacuating and allowing the trailer's air bags to bottom out. That one gets me jumping up and looking out my windows every time.

Ive had slept on ice with strong gale force winds shoving my empty rig towards a ditch about 5 or so feet away, a few inches at a time.

I messaged to company safety and dispatch my situation and we will find out by morning if I am in that ditch or not. It was a very bad ice storm and I had to wait overnight about 150 feet above a shipper's gate downhill to boot for him to open that morning so we could get loaded.

Looking back on that day and storm it was probably one of the worst ice events I have ever seen in the mid south up to that point. I had so many near misses that day with cars moving in when they should not have.

It was also one of the last times I'll run a semi on something that slippery. I'll simply make a weather decision to stay put in a nice truckstop somewhere sipping coffee, cocoa and munching food until the sun comes out enough to clear the roads. That will take a while.

But it wont be the last time I had to run on ice with our cars to say the doctor's That would be very stressful and worth a bottle of schnapps after we got home again to decompress. 40 to 60 miles one way on three inch thick glare ice with everyone sliding when they go faster than 30. It's nuts.

I've also wondered that. Used to give me a mini heart attack. Especially when parked in a questionable area.

My brother got me good with this kinda prank. We'd both driven all night but in different directions meeting El Paso I got there early so I laid my head on the steer wheel for a power nap.
I musta been out of it cuz next thing I know my ######## bro is parked nose 2 nose about 20' away with his highbeam lites on & blowing up his air horn, there was no one around to be botherd by the noise. Anyway when he got out of the hospital we had a big laff about it.
