Been to that one. What i tend to do, is call ahead first to any w/m i think about parking at.
I dont remember where i was, but i stopped at a Target. Bought a $300 video cam, and left it in the package, and kept the receipt handy. Had i got a knock on my door to move/leave, i would have first went into the store, and returned the camera.
We as truck drivers should boycot w/m, seeing how that store (as to do others) only survives because of trucks. I would suggest when we stop.....we dont walk into a walmart to buy a thing. I would bet that within a month, their profit margin would drop by 15%.
I appreciate the w/m with devoted truck parking, but please, do away with the signs saying 'no overnight truck parking' when you have devoted stalls. how dumb.

I also park at the T/S and walk to the Walmart in Selma, CA (CA99 exit 118 ); Marianna, FL (I10 exit 142); Jerome, ID (I84 exit 168 ); Morton, IL (I74 exit 102); Junction City, KS (I70 exit 298 ); Williamsburg, KY (I75 exit 11); Breaux Bridge, LA (I10 exit 109); Ephrata, PA (junction US222 and US322); and Beloit, WI (I90 exit 185A).
I list these not to be a smart aleck, but as info for new drivers who weren't aware of the close proximity between truck stops and a Walmart at these exits.
I mean this in a friendly way when I say you do us a disservice by assuming all truckers are lazy and disrespectful. Some of us enjoy walking.Last edited: Jun 23, 2009

I am not trying to stick up for Wal Mart but i have been told why they dont ant us to park there is we throw trash out on the parking lots. I dont think i would want to pick up bottles that someone has urinated in either
KingOfHibernia Thanks this. -
Yeah, but I've seen plenty of people throw trash in parking lots with not a truck in sight. Assuming it's always the truckers doesn't magically make the lot cleaner.

I am all for Walmart allowing drivers to make a quick stop to grab some stuff. But I also not sure why we should be offended if they don't want overnight parking. They are not truckstops. And the way we as a industry treat truckstops, restareas, walmart parkng lots, I wouldn't want it either. Matter of fact, have pulled into a few known walmarts that have truck parking areas to go grab some stuff, and kinda get bugged when there is not a space, and you see the curtains pulled. Just my thoughts. Shop and leave, so the next guy can shop and leave. If want to park overnight, find a truckstop. It is not walmarts issue if you are out of hours. If we continue to abuse these places, we will loose them all.

Accordin to one security guard they r not allowin trucks there cause 90% of them show no respect there but the rvers r startin to do the same so neither maybe allowed there before long.

And sometimes it is a matter of local ordinance too, nothing to do with the store itself. Here even RV's are limited to 2 hour parking.

Been to plenty of Walmarts that have no problem with a trucker stopping in to shop, they just don't want them parking overnight. But have been to some where they indeed want no trucks parking there for these reasons... they're hitting signs and just leaving, dumping the trash, and even parking in the areas not designated for truck parking and blocking off parking spots. One even told me that they had trucks hit cars parked there and just take off... no offence to anyone on here but sometimes we can be our own worst enemy out here

I heard that there used to be enforcers who had the right to call a tow truck and tow others off walmart property. At the walmart where I shop at, the enforcer had power to veto the store managers power. Now that there is not one, truckers park there all the time.
They do not mess with the skateboarders but rather the Vans and reefers unless you drive for Swift, SNI, Greatwide, and the likes who pull Walmart freight. During the busy season, Walmart will monitor the parking lot by sending out a manager every hour or two and ensure their private fleet always has parking spots. If you drive for one of the companies I mentioned, please call the manager and tell him/her that you will be here x amount of time and many times they will okay it. If you are in central fl and plan on parking at wickham rd one, pm me and I will show alternative parking as their is a parking lot right next door that rarely gets used.
