I usually follow the truck route in around back like you are delivering and park on the side of the building out of everyones way unless some have designated truck parking. That's just me though. I try to be less conspicuous as possible. Out of sight, out of mind.

Exit 266 I-94 . I've stopped there often . It's a Marathon with room for about 20 trucks . Try not to park on the right past the scales . Drivers coming in later will park double in front of you and you'll have to wake them up to get out .kid_cardiac Thanks this.

The WalMart by me(Southport NC) is close to a military shipping terminal. The Landstar guys have to drop their trailers on base and bobtail to the Walmart(6-7 miles). It's not unusual to see 10-12 tractors there for up to two days if they have to wait for a ship to either arrive or be loaded for overseas. A very truck friendly Walmart. A local owner op also parks his truck there often for several days.

Several times I have taken my 34 hr reset at WMs. Very convenient specially because I do my groceries there constantly. There's a guide called "The 2011 National Trucker's Service Directory" that lists WMs on major hwys (state by state).

I do local P&D. One time i was pulling a 48 footer around the city and I decided to stop for some lunch. I stopped at a Wendys, backed into the farthest corner of the lot where nobody was and started walking in. I was barely out of the truck when a #####y store manager came out and started screaming at me that there is no truck parking here. I said something like "I guess you dont want the 2 new stoves Ive got to deliver to you today then Maam" as I fumbled with I looked at my handheld computer pretending to be looking at the details of the delivery.
She was like "Oh honey Im so sorry back it up to the back door". I said sorry, cant do it, theres no truck parking here. Youll have to come and pick it up at the terminal in (town 50 miles away). She about burst a blood vessel when I said that. I just got in the truck and drove off.
By the way, my truck wasnt even coming close to blocking anybody in.lostNfound Thanks this. -
I often park at Walmart, if it's a new one to me I'll go in and ask the manager. Most will say they don't care, but there is a local ordinance stating it is not allowed. Then it's on you if you get run off by the locals. Most just appreciate you asking first and tell you to park as far away from the night door as possible.
