Just posting this as a heads up for anyone rolling through the area of Springfield, IL where I55/I72 cross.
Wal Mart has been fined $18,000 so far by the city of Springfield for allowing trucks to park in their lot.

Not sure if this is the proper section to post the info. But thought it should be noted this is a city issue, not Wal Mart.

"The Walmart Supercenter on Springfield’s south side has accrued about $18,000 in fines from the city for letting tractor-trailers sit in their parking lot.

The store, 1100 Lejune Drive, began racking up $500-a-day fines for the zoning violation on Nov. 8. A city administrative court hearing officer granted the city’s request Wednesday that the fines only accrue up to Dec. 13, which is when the Walmart turned in a new parking plan for approval. Thirty-five days of $500 penalties plus a $565 fine adds up to $18,065."

There's another posting somewhere else here on this story. Truckers are prone to park totally stupid in some situations and it's no wonder they draw so much unwanted attention.

As far as I'm concerned, if a Walmart does not have a section with lanes painted for big trucks, it's off limits. And if that section is full, then move on and don't position your truck in the middle of the main parking lot for other to have to deal with for 10-12 hours or longer.

But I do get pissed when I notice many trucks are obviously belonging to local drivers, and they use the Walmart lot to park their truck when on home time.

Wow that’s suprising. I’m originally from The Springfield Area. Moved about 8 years ago to Wisconsin. I know what walmart your talking about. The one off the parkway next to the McDonalds and Perkins Right.
