I agree....The tech that I spoke with had a serious "attitude" and I haven't heard anything good about the place until this thread started.
Their merchandise prices are very high as well...About the same as you would pay at a truckstop.
No thanks!

Ok I got to chime in here....
I was at Walcott back in July. I purchased an inline noise filter (actually worked) and when I told the tech, he appeared surprised.
Hmm...not much faith in what you sell eh?
I then asked him for a price to install a co-phased (Dual antennas) system in my W900. I did it myself a year ago, but I was curious.
He quoted me minimum $250.
I told him I had just done my own rig and it didnt take me 45mins from start to finish.
And it couldn't be easier.... He told me thats a flat charge no matter what kind of rig you bring in.
The conversation went downhill from there.....what an idiot...
Their prices are not competitive...so..
If you need something and they are the only place, then perhaps. Otherwise, I would look online for a better source.
I didn't care for the guy's attitude.....rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Black w900, the speedo in my blue w900 looks just about as good in KPH

oh yea, learn how to do radio work yourself, way more satisfying than shelling out a bunch of $
-
Yep like fixing the car your self
-
I think that I need go it the radio equipment installation business. Just doing 4-5 jobs a day will more than pay the bills. And no more High fuel cost, or DOT to deal with.
-
No sh## eh?

Right out of high school, back in the day...I installed CB radios and antennas and enjoyed the challenge of some of the RVs and stuff I did. It's not hard and certainly not worth $250. That was insane....
For that price, I had presumed the guy would hand make the coax and cut/solder all of the parts to the proper wave length.
When I mentioned that, I got this look --->
He then told me it was a pre-made kit...
Dam bandits...
..as I said the only purpose I found for these guys is that they carried this really decent noise filter.
I actually ordered it online and had it shipped to my home a few months before I actually stopped in.
I have a thread on here somewhere about it. I had checked everything else and at that point had hoped
this filter would fix my issue and it 100% solved it.... -

Heh. I'll replace the coax for $198, radios installed $98, I'll even do a peak and snip special to get your Cobra 29 to swing 75 watts barefoot for $85.
My Dosy "feel good" meter will confirm this.
And for the first 100 customers, I'll even add in free of charge, 2 noise toys, of anything you want to irritate the other drivers.
You can finally tick off the whole truck stop with these gadgets.
