We have the cash in the bank to buy a truck outright but it’s not an option for us right now. My wife has bad health issues & we are going to be using a big chunk of our savings for her surgery. That’s why I’m asking for people’s experience with walk away leases, how much they’ve made & what companies are good & which to steer away from. Thanks!

I’m not expecting to fail, I’ve made money trucking the last few yrs. My 1st yr with my CDL I was hauling grain & made 90k. I was OTR but stayed within 150 miles & was home every weekend. Made at least 90k every yr since, I work hard & know my worth. My wife & I are 23 & 24yrs old with over 75k in the bank not including our investment accounts, that’s with us going through a lot of life with medical bills because she’s very sick. Now I’m looking to hit the road OTR & bring my wife so I’m exploring other options as I’d like to see more of the US with her & do something more like coast to coast, life is precious & you never know how much time you got especially when you have a wife that’s sick. Don’t have experience with walk away leases so just trying to get info from those who have had positive experiences & who they were working for & what the pay looked like. Thanks!

I dont think there is a program like that out there. if you are just talking about a rental truck that u can just turn back in whenever u want... You are going to be better off just finding a good company to work for..

I don't know much. But it sounds like some Chicago and 1099 scab outfits are marketing "Walk away leases". I see it as away to keep from hiring employees. High payments, but walk away with no recourse. This is all I know.
