Hey guys I got my truck in the shop for cvi and they are calling the walking beam saying center pounded out and outside ends weather cracked. But the suspension doesn’t walk more than a half tire out loaded still... are these not allowed to crack as long as they are in tolerance?? That was my understanding. Shop seems not experienced as I explained this to them. Here’s a pic they sent.

There probably aren't many shops that deal with them anymore, but I don't think they are terribly expensive to have re-bushed if you think you might be getting close anyway.
I'll run out and take some photos of mine for comparison.Mr79W900A Thanks this. -
Goodysnap, AModelCat and IH Truck Guy Thank this.

I don’t know the specifics of a walking beam but I have found that some folks see cracking in rubber bushings and automatically say it’s bad until they are forced to check for movement then find none.

I wouldn't call weather cracking like in Oxbow's picture a big deal. Now pounded out and sloppy is another thing.

I'm not even sure where my old books ended up. They'd have some good information. Might have been lost when I moved

Here is a screenshot of the most current Alberta cvi manual regarding walking beams. As I read it you are allowed 7mm clearance on the cross tube bushing.
I'm not sure about bc, but alberta cvi manuals are a free download from service alberta.
