Wow what a week of training had to wake up at 2am to be at the yard by 3 and sit on the passenger seat to get some lessons :biggrin_25520: I learned most of the routes, I learned how to run the PTO, tarping, untarping, how to hook the hydraulic lines. The owner of the shop is pretty cool he let me use his yard for backing practice. since I am rusty. Lot of the runs are really in tight places, you need skills to back the truck up mostly in angles. . Company drivers easily run 600 miles a day. Most of the runs are to dedicated places which are handed over to drivers depending on what area you live at. I never knew how complicated the complex of a walking floor is or could be.

Thanks I am having fun. I have to costume to my body to wake up all certain hours depending where the load is going to be dumped off. I was wondering is running the PTO the same on every truck? Putting the truck in park, pressing the clutch to shift onto second gear, flip the PTO switch back, flipping the switch where the cruise control is, release the gear to neutral, release the clutch slowly, rev up the engine up to 12000 rpm's?

On most newer models with factory wet lines (PTO) yes.

Always put it in a gear as that stops the transmission, and the engage the pto. RPM's can vary by pump, equipment, oil, and drive speed.

I'm averaging about $1000 a week as well, of course whether that is good pay or not depends a lot on where you live.
I do ok here on it, in Southern California I'd be starving on the same money.
I haul a lot of bark and barkdust, sawdust, chips, recycle, trash etc.
That's one thing I found moving from a possum belly chip wagon to a live floor is a lot more options for work and I stay plenty busy.
Keeps the boredom down too, I'm always going somewhere I haven't been before.
Check out this thread for instance.... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-shack-art-gallery/246103-y2ks-wild-ride.html

The company would have me working every weekend if I'd let them lol.
