I pull tankers, so I am not familiar with WalMarts, so that's why I am asking the question. Do you really have to PAY a WalMart DC (say, Walmart employees) to unload WalMarts freight ? If you do, that is insane...

    Rubber_Duck Thanks this.

On the food side it happens, depends on the contract with your company and mallwart. Doesn't that just make ya love mallwart?
Seems I brought a load of bagged sugar for retail in one once, and yep, not only mallwart itself, but the less than stellar lumpers as well. Sure was glad to get out of that dump! It may not have been mallwart, but you get the picture.:biggrin_2558:

It's also why you see the "Show us the ad with the exact product and will match it" doesn't always work. Because some companies make "Walmart Only" products.

Ya, I think Sterrelite in Enos Tx, is one. Was there twice, what a fustercluck. I've never been back luckily. Of course, both those went to the Brookville gardenspot in Florida. Two loads, doomed from the start!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

I'm actually about to haul a sterrelite load to a wal-fart dc. First WM DC I hauled to was #6080 in Tobyhanna, PA. I pull up to the gate and wait while I watch the guard walk out of the shack and get 7 wal-mart trucks through in the 20 mins I'm waiting. I'm starting to think I'm invisible when he finally yells over and asks if I'm going to come in the guard shack sometime today. My first receiver that actually had me come in the guard shack, though the wal-mart drivers don't have to get out of their truck. Nice huh?

I did hit one DC for a pickup one morning. I pull in and get this little 5'3" chubby black woman on a power trip telling me how it's gonna be. I open my doors and she says I have to sweep out the trailer. I swept it out when I picked it up. She pointed at a wood splinter about 2" long stuck in the crack where the door closes. I raise my sunglasses and give her my best "are you ####### serious" look. Then I picked up the splinter and flicked it over her shoulder into the waste can then looked at her and raised my eyebrows. She didn't like that but looking like a refugee from the hells angels has it's advantages and I guess she figured she pushed her luck enough and let me go.

I am really easy going and got a great smile and a handshake for people that treat me well...just don't get on my bad side or I may drop a 2 week old half open piss jug that looks like orange gatorade in your shacks trash bin when you aren't looking.

Yeah, it's $50 whether it's one pallet or a full truck load. You can do your own, but you better have it unloaded and repalletized in 2 hours or they are kicking you off the dock. Yes, the dockworkers are all Walmart employees. They take that $50 and donate to various organiztions. Then they brag about the donations and take all the credit.

Cross dock loads they don't charge. One cross dock load I took in broke down to 189 pallets. The poor woman it took 7 hours. I got good detention on that one.

I've only had a problem one time at a Walmart. Follow their procedures and everything goes okay.

Theres one walmart I know that doesnt charge for lumpers. But cant remember. The lumper fee is stupid for sure because it could be worked out in the load pricing. But if youre lucky your co will just load your comdata card and its simple as pie. One good thing is they are fast, Ill give them that.

Hmm, I have yet to pay a lumper at a wal-mart. I think all my wal-mart loads have been drops. Lucky me lol.
