This. It's an age old story. Company founder dies. Kids take over. Company goes to hell because kids only care about what they can squeeze out of it.

Transportation is probably the least profitable part of the company. Kids can't squeeze it for value, so they nix it.

Walmart is headed down the same road as Sears/Kmart. They're big enough that it will take some time, but they'll get there.

I do so enjoy when folks talk of which they do not know.

Mr Sam has been dead 26 years. Hos descendants take a fairly active role in the company as major stock holders.

The changes under taken are to prevent us becoming Sears/Kmart.

Private fleet is the best fit in some locations. It is not going anywhere.

Outsiders just speculate without any information.

Thanks I will until I see evidence to the contrary.

For a fleet going away we sure are doing a lot of hiring, a lot of trying to shore up the bad image upper management put out there.

They sure are spending an inordinate amount of time to figure out what schedules drivers are willing to work.

But hey if it does go away in a few years all I will have is 500k plus in wages during that time frame.

Yeah and I think management is realizing that.

However even our new guys are making way more than a standard OTR driver.

Wrong again. Most otr drivers easily make 60-70 a year except new rooks.
