So I was thinking about applying. Any information would help about the academy. It’s been awhile since I’ve shifted gears will they just send you packing if you grind a few gears or have to pull up once or twice when backing up? I deliver to Walmart’s now. I drive through Baltimore sometimes up to Wilmington, I do about 350-400 miles a night but we use automatic day cabs and 48ft trailers. I just don’t want to flat out quit my job and then get sent packing for the smallest thing. I am a safe driver but not sure how Walmart does things at the academy. Any info would be appreciated, thank you.

True, I just don’t want to go through all of that and then not have a job lol. I’ve talk to quite a few people and that seems to be their concern. I try to think of it as a learning experience but still.

I told the WM recruiter the same thing & he said " sometimes you have to take the leap of faith". The recruiter told me once i pass everything on Friday i would start at the DC on Monday. I told him i wanted to work out a two week noticed with my current company & he said i needed to take care of that before i attend the orientation. So asked him if he was going to leave WM would he work out a two week noticed before he changed jobs? He said this was about me not him.

It is what it is. Some guys go and then pass and then just quit their jobs with no notice. Myself, I gave a two week notice then went to onboarding... passed and started at my DC the following Monday.

Thank you all for the replies. Sorry I’ve been busy with work. So did you feel like you learned anything from the academy and was worth the time or no?
