Yeah, I would like that program better than a 6/3. You get just as many days off as the 6/3, but never have to worry about bumping the 70 hour rule.

Well one driver I talked to was coming off a full time truck but wanted to start out on the program the first of the year. They were going to start it next month. You know my reason why, also did some sole searching too. I don't really want a rotating schedule, and the lose in pay. I just have to patient. Another driver I don't think took the program because of one of the trucks on it. He is a tall guy and the Peterbilts he doesn't like to drive them. This one has a smaller sleep on it as well. Another driver was waffling the idea back and forth, your on LOA and the last two I have no idea.

I am feeling a bit better as well and should be back to norm come this weekend. Any idea on when you will be back to work?

When a driver is permanently assigned to a tractor, versus being on a program where your schedule and days off rotate and you use several different trucks assigned to that program. For example, if it were me and I was on a full time truck, I would go out on Thursdays, work 5 days, be off 2 days, come back to the same truck the following Thursday. The day you leave out can change when you bid on the run every 6 months based on seniority. I am at the bottom now, so I may be stuck leaving on Thursday for a while. I could try to get on one of the program runs, which would give rotating days off, but I would prefer a full time truck. The advantage of having a full time truck is you stay permanently assigned to it until you either switch to a program run or the truck is traded in due to mileage, at which time you would get another permanently assigned truck. Having a permanently assigned truck is great because you can keep all your gear in the truck when you go home, you know about any quirks the truck may or may not have, and by not having to switch trucks during your work week you can make more money. :)

Depends on what DC you are at as to how fast it would happen. Jim, who is at a DC that is short a lot of drivers, has more opportunities right now compared to other DC's that are not short. Sometimes you have to just be in the right place at the right time! :)

Glad you are feeling better. I can understand your decision since you are further up the seniority list than me.

Not sure when I will be back. It is in the hands of Walmart clearing me to return. We talked on the phone last week, so you know more of the details.

makes since! that's one of the things, among others that drew me to apply there. sounds like they have schedule that pretty much work for about anyone. of course once you work your way up to them.

Yeah, too bad you didn't live up the Pennsylvania area. The DC Jim is at in Tobyhanna, PA has been short a lot of drivers. Jim was able to get on a 6/3 program in the first few weeks he was there. Great for Jim since he lives about 270 miles from the DC.

I think I'd love the 6/3 even if I lived local. It IS 18 days less per year to work, but that's not as catastrophic of a pay cut as others would lead one to believe. I'm doing fine, adp going up every payday, and with the rotating days off I can make plans and have some time off when everyone else has off. To be stuck with a Wed and Thu off every week...well, that just stinks cuz when I'm off, our friends and family AREN'T! LOL. Ok, I got spoiled, I'll admit it. I would have, of course, stayed on the 5/2 I was initially on, knowing that the day would eventually come, just got lucky like you said.

We have 2 trucks on our program, so I am familiar with both. One is an '09, the other is a '13, both Freightliners thank God...I hate internationals and the Petes. Well, bed time for me.
