You got that right. My uncle already for warned me as well as my mentor. I am very happy to be here, no pressure, no rush and today I have a revalation. I realized that this job has and will make me a better driver than I have ever been! This is a good thing and is something I was looking forward too.

    CaptainDaveG Thanks this.

No you should not have to worry about such a thing. Transfers are for drivers that come from way too far that want to be closer to a DC near their home. Depending on location, their may be a possibility of being transferred to a Grocery DC if no contract company is tagged on to it. Here in TX, Greatwide does all the meat, dairy and frozen. They also do some dry, but we get as many as we can handle. There just isn't enough drivers to all of it.

Drozzer, now that you've been doing it for a couple weeks, do you have ANY regrets? Were you second-guessing your decision before orientation? I'm sure that's natural, either that or I'm losing it with all this waiting! Monday will be 2 weeks since the job offer/physical/drug test. This is a huge change for me, for us...just wanted to know if you or anyone else had the same thoughts racing through their minds.

NC, thanks for the warm welcome. I just hope the waiting ends soon...all I have time to do is think.

Vet you know before I even sent my app in, I was wondering if it was going to be right for me and my family. Now that I am hired on and doing it, no. I don't regret one minute of it. This is and will be the best and easiest career I will ever have! I know, the waiting does suck. The pay off will out weight it once your behind the wheel making some money. All the waiting I did is a distant memory now.

I tried to post yesterday but it was late and my phone was not cooperating. I had a trailer break down. Bad parking brake can. They ended up reloaded the entire load onto another trailer because the gro DC didn't have the part. They stoke for the reefer fleet here. Either way, I still made money for over 2hrs of sitting. Tomorrow I have to swape trucks. No fun but part of the job for the moment. One day I will be assigned a truck. Until then, I am a happy camper!

drozzer69, a little late here, but want to CONGRATULATE you for the great accomplishment! :yes2557: I work for a mega carrier pulling Walmart trailers every day and sometimes being dispatched by Walmart dispatchers. They are very professional, very kind and respectful. 99% of Walmart drivers are very nice, very professional, extremely fast doing their drop and hook... and always so kind and helpful. I think they are the cream of the crop!! I wish you all the best man!!

Thanks rocks! I never got the chance to do something like that with either mega I had worked for. This really is a excellent experience! Everyone I have delt with has been polite, helpful and most of all respectful. It is hard to come by all three of those any where.

Well I got lucky this week. I have one truck for the whole week! Had two store loads waiting to go for me when I got in. Now I am sitting at a third store for the night with a load for this store in the morning. After that I am picking up a load and headed north. Should be a great week of running and work for me!

Have fun man! I have done a lot of those store loads and many other WM loads with the only difference that I have to work with 2 different systems at same time (my company and WM) and get payed much MUCH less than WM drivers... :biggrin_25510: and can't shower and can't break in the DCs... I thought you would always have "your" truck. Will you have to slip seat?
