Awesome to hear captnate! Boy am I tired. 612 miles turned from Halletsville down to Edinburgh, Rio Grande City, Pinetas and shut down at Ganado. That's a lot for me in one day. I usually average 430-520 on my good days.
Mike being nervous is a normal thing for this. As Gary said, just be yourself, think safety minded, and no negativity and you'll be on to the next steps before you know it. I have faith in all who read and apply for these positions. So all but one who have read up on hear have it through. Again brush up on your pre-trip and backing skills so you can ace it when you get down here. I need some drivers under me just like Gary does! Lol only thing is he isn't far from the top! -
thanks matt hopefully ill be down that way soon. get plenty of practice backing daily do 10 to 12 stops a day m-f so surely I can hit a dock on a road test in 6 tries lol

Yeah for sure ! I thought i would of been the worse being that I hadn't been on a sleeper truck or 53 ft trailer in over 10 yrs I guess its like riding a bike.haha

What many people don't get is the overall experience of working for a company that truly cares. Nowhere have I EVER worked where I actually feel appreciated, RESPECTED (genuine respect, not union forced), paid VERY WELL (not union forced), and where I honestly look forward to work! Ok, I spend 6 days in a late model (2013) truck (and then 3 days off). The big difference? Tell ya what...if you're making 80K plus a year by NOT working 14 hour days, by working no more than 10 or 11 hours a day, you have top rate health ins, life ins, unrivaled disability ins, stock purchase, 401k with company match (and the list goes on and on)...well, stay where you are. You can't beat that (if you're HAPPY where you are). But MY situation was this: I worked 14 hours a day. Great job but crappy health ins that just about broke us, a 35 min drive each way. So add that to 14 hours. Get home, do some paperwork, shower, eat with the family, say hi for a few minutes, and TRY to get 6 hours of sleep. A lot of guys I worked with would get less than that. That's safe. Sat and Sun off was great...but the week was exhausting. Quality time with family? Not. 15 minutes before jumping into bed and falling asleep all day...not good. I was worried I might actually have a sleeping disorder. Immediately after starting at Walmart I realized I had no such thing! I get awesome sleep (jump in back and done), and soon starts another rewarding day. It's not just a job. It's so much more. The benefits are incredible, as is the pay, but the job satisfaction...you can't buy that and you won't find this level of it anywhere else. And I was VERY happy at my previous employer. I had no idea how much happier I'd be at Walmart.
It's not always cut and dry, we often can't see what's on the 'other side', and usually the grass doesn't turn out to be any greener. But I can tell you this...the grass isn't just greener on the other side...it's a championship golf course on a beautiful summer day!Boy Howdey, Extreme4x4, grabberblue12 and 2 others Thank this.
