I threw my hat in the ring for Spring Valley, Illinois. I've met a lot of drivers out of the "Valley".... they seem to really like it. In fact, I've never met an unhappy Wally Driver- That's really cool.
I've always appreciated the fact that the drivers have always answered my questions.drozzer69 Thanks this. -
We will answer any question anywhere any time $$$$$$$ am just a satisfied customer lol
freight shaker Thanks this. -
There are a bunch of us going to be retiring in the next 5 years. We will answer all questions to the best of our ability. Look at all the answers you get. Drivers have different perspectives on the same questions. Also, be specific about which DC. Although there are lots of company wide policies, each DC also adapts to its local environments and customers (stores).

Does anyone know what programs/bids (e.g. 7/7-5/2-4/4) Spring Valley has? Also, what are the start times there? I have heard that any new hires will likely be Friday out.
Thanks guys.... -
I'm out of SV there's about 14 drivers on Friday out at 7am, you can have every eighth weekend off on that one. We just got a new MGR "GTM" is what there called here, she seems nice. I don't think until she gets moved in we will be getting any new bids. I started in Jan I took a Chicago metro to get a truck it has a 17:00 start, one of those will be opening up, I was the bottom guy when I got that. Not sure why nobody else took it Nights? Or Chicago? I ran Chicago for 23 years at night so I didn't care. I'd rather run Chicago at night, no traffic... If you run out of Spring Valley you will runn Chicago "A"-lot
i look for any new bids to be 5/2 5/3 there's a couple of guys on our 6/3 who have made them 5/4s so they just let one expire with out renewing "boowho" that's what I wanted. Oh well there's other terminals but I love it here. Good luck the saftey guy is pretty fair but what I did was watch a bunch of YouTube on pretrip, make sure you read through this fourm from like last October that's when they revamped the hiring process. This fourm is awesome
PM me I'll give you my number my name is Bretfreight shaker Thanks this. -

Thanks Bret! I appreciate all the answers I can get. Being the DC closest to Chicago, I figured there would be a lot of city work involved. And weekend work doesn't bother me one bit.
Would a new guy get out and run around a little or spend 75-80% or more of his time peddling freight in the city?
Also- would a new driver be forced on nights/graveyard? (1700 or later start)
I'm sure I'll have a few more soon and I can PM you in the very near future. I've been with my current company (a smaller private fleet) for well over 16 years, and I'm really weighing all the options and giving this some pretty serious thought. I'll admit to being somewhat resistant to change.
And yes- this forum/thread is awesome. It really has been a big help.
Thanks again Bret!Last edited: Jun 8, 2014
