Yes..? Tell me why its worse to have a wider variety of experience via driving for different companies? What if I purposely chose to switch companies every 2 years to expose myself to different driving situations/equipment types/types of management/driving areas etc. Because I thought it would benefit my resume. Its not like I'm changing my citizenship every 2 years. All companies left on good terms.
Walmart here I come!

That's gotta be one of the dumbest questions I've seen on this forum.
Job history shows the kind of stability the employee has. They spend a lot of money hiring drivers, they want to know they'll stick around. -
I understand the job stability view of it from the employer if it was anybody else but Walmart, but Walmart knows they are the best. Are they really that concerned that drivers will leave THEM for somewhere else that they put the loyalty factor that high up the list? How many really quit vs getting terminated? Anyway I just thought someone would see my logic I guess its wrong

Allow me to address the scenario you gave us, regarding a driver who drives 10 years for 10 different companies. Walmart requires you to have an x amount of experience and they don't have a set criteria of how many years you've been with the same company, but they definitely frown upon job-hoppers! Walmart invests heavily in their drivers, and it takes quite some time to find just one qualified driver. They don't want to take the chance that you will only stay with them for one year before moving on to another company. They want to make sure they are hiring a driver who is likely to stay with the company. A job hopper is seen as someone who can NOT adapt to differing scenarios and conditions, and typically is seen as someone who cannot get along with the company they work for. Also, the job hopper would be seen as having too many habits to try to break, as each of his/her 10 companies will have done things differently. Walmart wants to hire drivers who show stability. Job-hoppers need not apply. Does that make it easier to understand?
drozzer69 and Boy Howdey Thank this. -
Yes it does. But I believe not all Job Hopper's are like that. Loyalty trumps superior experience to them but I guess thats what works for them.

You need 3 Years of driving experience to get hired... So 5 years at same company to be considered is false.. Employment/work history is key
-
I do understand your logic, I do. But unfortunately that logic would work best for an investment banker, lawyer, management positions, tech jobs like computer engineers etc.

When I had my interview I was told "no Way you were going to get hired with only 4 years of driving for 2 different company's". That was 15 years ago! Boy were the nay Sayers surprised when I did all Interviews to include Driving Test and had Physical that day!! They were impressed with my Military experience I think and driving 1,098 miles for the interview helped!

For the record, I was at my previous company for 3 years and 8 months. Prior to them was 2 1/2years with another. Time behind the wheel, safety record, and the attitude and outlook are what Wal~mart looks for. Have you applied or are you just basing what your saying on opinion?

Ya I've been applying since when they were still using paper apps you had to pick up from a DC. But never been called before. What about age do you think they discriminate against age? I'm 32
