He should be ok, it's my understanding that a current employer doesn't know whether or not it's another employer or a bank verifying employment in order to get a loan. And unless it's a really crappy fly by night under the radar company, it's actually illegal for the HR department to notify your supervisor that an employment verification check was performed on you. in fact, most companies these days have automated systems to verify employment. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

When I went in for my pre-trip/roadtest I signed papers for employment verification, they called my job the next day to verify. It depends on what info you give them for verification, such as an automated verification 800 number or you give them a phone number where someone answers. Luckily for me there was no backlash.

I have seen this numerous times in 24 years and this is what makes the difference. When a carrier shows up to pick up a load, the shipper is the customer. The carrier has to kiss the shipper's ***. When WM shows up to pick up a load, we are the customer and the shipper has to kiss ours. Many years ago, I showed up at a shipper and was told that the driver loaded the truck. I told them that "Wal-Mart drivers didn't load trucks." They said, "If you get loaded here, you will load the truck." Told them I needed to place a call. A few minutes later, a nice lady came out and asked, "Exactly, who did you call?" She said the the facility manager had just given her a call. Asked if I would like to know what he told her? Told her sure. "He told me that god himself owns that truck and that is one of his children driving it. Get that truck loaded and get him out of this place with a smile on his face."

Hey everyone! I got the call a week ago and I start orientation on Oct 6. Thanks again for the help you guys gave me. I'm pretty excited about starting. My current boss has been working my tail off. Two 20 drop flatbed loads in a row... sweating a lot sucks a lot....

How hard is WM on your job history? I have 25+years of safe driving. No accidents or speeding tickets. Was at a private fleet for over 10 year till I was to old to unload their freight anymore so I moved on without much of a plan. In last 2 years I have had 4 jobs. 1 for a year and the one I'm at now for over 6 months. I just can't find a place I am happy with the work and the income. WM is having a driver hiring seminar in the DFW area next week and I was thinking on giving it a shot. What say you?

Like Nike say "Just Do It" can't hurt to try only hurt when you pass on opportunity.
