    Well then, good luck to your husband !!!

    It is snowing like crazy here. We have about 6-8" on the ground. "I'm dreaming of a white................ New Year!!" LOL

    Word is they are looking to hire about 15 here. We will see how it goes. Rick is all excited to have a bit of seniority. Also, it is looking like he may get a truck, or a 6/2 (what he really wants and is hoping for at this realighnment) soon. Woohoo !!!! (the driver just ahead of him just got a truck)

    Thank you, Gloria!!!

    I can't believe it isn't snowing here -- it's so blasted cold, 19 degrees headed for 14 overnight -- just no precip to make snow out of. It will hit us soon enough -- typically our worst months are January and February.

    Awwww, I sure hope Rick gets his new guys and some seniority -- and now maybe he will get his own truck soon, too :)

    Another stress point ...

    In 40 years of possessing a driver's license and the last 36 of those driving big rigs, Brian had one ticket in 2010 (commercial) and another in 2011. Both are off his 3-year record now.

    However, the 2011 one was a minor accident and he was charged with "Unsafe Lane Change" ... Driver of a 4-wheeler on the phone when she veered into his lane and hit his tractor where he couldn't see her. She hooked his tractor's front bumper when she hit him (still on the phone) and he dragged her a short distance (it doesn't say any of that on the ticket -- I still have a copy of it). No fatality, nothing towed, no medical treatment away from the scene, nobody sued.

    Of course since you have to give lifetime records on the application, I cited that event. I didn't know the difference between an "incident" and an "accident" so I wrote it up as an accident. Brian told me that he thought since he was ticketed that it would be classified as "preventable" so I wrote it up as a preventable accident.

    How are we looking now???

    If the accident was not listed as DOT recordable, it will not be an issue. It is 2015 now, so each of the violations and the accident are more than 3 years old.

    Buzzard2157 Thanks this.

    Thanks, Tom -- what does "DOT recordable" mean? And even though it has passed the 3-year mark, what worries me is that they wanted any and all occurrences for your entire life!!!

    DOT Recordable Accident means:

    (i) A fatality;
    (ii) Bodily injury to a person who, as a result of the injury, immediately receives medical treatment away from the scene of the accident; or
    (iii) One or more motor vehicles incurring disabling damage as a result of the accident, requiring the motor vehicle(s) to be transported away from the scene by a tow truck or other motor vehicle.

    Walmart may want your lifetime driving history, but they are only checking as far back as 10 years. With the exception of things like a DOT Recordable accident, a DWI/DUI, or a misdemeanor/felony, most records do not exist beyond 10 years. Most large carriers purge their accident records beyond the last 3 years, some maintain records via USIS/DAC/HireRight for 7-10 years, but almost no carrier retains records beyond 10 years. FMCSA only requires a carrier do a check on an potential employee for the past 10 years. No reason to dig deeper than that amount of time.
