Most dc's start times are 0700, 0900, 1000, 1200, 1400, and a late 1800. Starting as an extra he will have a 1000 gate time. They will let him know his go out day and time at the end of orientation or during his mentor week.

Whatever his scheduled start time is, policy allows the driver to leave up to one hour before.

    Thanks, Matt and middleoftheroad !!!

LOLOLOL not exactly what he's accustomed to ... However, when you factor in the 2.5 hour commute -- call it 3 hours, if he starts an hour early at 09:00, he will be leaving home at 06:00. That means getting up 05:00-ish, still kinda late for him. With the weird weather we've got moving in right now, though, he may be leaving even earlier to allow for that. New England winter is really just beginning now, and the further northeast you drive the nastier it gets.

Oh -- know what? I seem to recall somebody addressing this, but when Brian asked me about it I couldn't remember (I've taken in an overload of info, dontcha know, LOL) ... What are new guys paid during Orientation and Mentor Week?

Orientation is paid by the hour, mentor week he will be making miles and activity pay. Also Wal~mart now has a policy that if you live 250 miles away from a Dc or more, they want you to either drive down the day before you gate and they would either accommodate a truck to sleep in or a hotel room(case by case).

A driver that takes a position and lives that far away should already have a plan. Just my opinion of course.

Orientation is 14.00 an hour. Then just like drozzer said .. out with a trainer you get Miles and activity pay.
