Thanks Extreme! You were more than welcome to answer the question about slip seating and ADP. I asked Matt since he is at the Sealy DC where I will work out of soon.

I appreciate your insight about your ADP and how it has gone up as you have become more efficient. This is an area I will focus on greatly. I do it with my job driving for Honda Motors. I use technology such as highly advanced weather radar and traffic data to enhance my driving times between Houston and the Dallas area that I travel each day. I will use this along with other means of better planning my entry and exit from first time visits to stores and other customers/DC's I will go to, such as with aerial photographs, to get in and out faster. I am very computer savvy with computers and all sorts of mobile electronics, so aside from needing to see what WM will require me to input on the computer, I will master this too. I will maximum my time without compromising safety, just as I do now. I will try to limit the effects of slip seating as much as possible. :)

We all try to maximize our time. The thing is, I know how much I dislike coming into a dirty truck, so I try to make sure I don't leave one that way for someone else. There are people who rarely have other drivers drive their trucks, and I am on the list (patting myself on the back. LOL). As for the computer thing, it was just a different learning curve since my X job didn't use them. Also, this was my first experience with electronic logs (which is very easy, actually). One of the hardest things has been the new 30 minute break thing, since it is causing issues with us, and dispatch.

Anyway, off to bed. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, and I will answer when able.

I totally agree with you on the issue of a dirty truck. I deal with it now with my current job. It doesn't stop me from taking the time to keep it very clean regardless of whether or not other drivers do as well. Will keep plenty of cleaning supplies with me to take care of it as needed.

The 30 minute break has not been a problem for me thus far, but I have a pretty normal routine. I can see when you are going to many different places each day where planning when to take it can be a bit harder.

Fortunately, I am not sick right now. Jim (NYVET) is, so my prayers are that he becomes well very quickly! Being sick in the summer really stinks! :)

Morning Tom! Slip seating bothered me a little bit at the beginning. It does effect my productivity at the end of the day when I have to swap out. It takes about an hour and a half to switch my gear, fuel, vac, wash the outside, and clean the interior surfaces that I handle. Its been a bit rough because many of our trucks get written up for issues the assigned drivers find durning their week but don't relay that the truck is in the shop. Then I go look for it and have to go back in to get another one. We are supposed to get a couple more soon and had some drivers transfer out and in. I am just waiting for a couple other drivers to get on some open trucks and then the next round I should be able to get something. It will help me in the long run. Also ADP is for when you take a day off with pay. That will increase as your longevity increases and your productivity and efficiancy. Don't try to rush to get that to go up! Many drivers get in trouble with running over hours, accidents and things like that to get that ADP up. Just take your time and it will work itself out.

I have to call my vendor to see if my load is ready yet, no use in sitting and waiting if I don't have to.

Thanks Matt. I certainly will not try to raise my ADP at the expense of safety. My signature line below is always my prime directive. :)

It looks like it will be best to travel as light as possible to make slip seating a little less time consuming. Matt, did you ever get your WM shirts yet? Since it was said WM provides and cleans the shirts, do you have a locker at the DC that the shirts get placed in by whomever cleans them?

Of course, on the Jim thing. I switched trucks last night, and it is hot and humid as can be, so I will claim temporary insanity. LOL

I will say this, I hope you ordered a lot of shorts. I ordered way too many pairs of pants that I will never use. Oh well. Live and learn.

Hey Rob, perhaps you could help me with something, as you live right there locally. I have a 28' 5th wheel camper that my wife had the great idea of finding a place to park it so I'd have somewhere to stay should something like getting sick or a mandatory work extension should happen. Do you know of any local year-round campgrounds or know of anyone who'd be reasonable for parking it on a remote corner of their property (with electric) or something like that? I'd be happy to pay ( I prefer to go this route, I'm not looking for free but I am sure somebody who has private property would be far cheaper than a campground). If you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks Rob.

Tom, yes we are provided uniforms. You do have choices as to what you would want, short or long sleve, white, blue and a Texas style which has snaps. Pants are three kinds. No shorts, but you can wear'em if you got'em. No stripes or plads. We have a uniform room off the tunnel where they are kept and large lockers for the dirty stuff. You should get your uniforms by end of week three start of week four. You will be asked for measuremnets on the first day of oreintation. Yes packing lite can help with slip seating. I carry a bag for my cloths (has my sheets also), shower bag, lite sleeping bag, pillow, milk crate of dry goods, small cooler, small bag of cleaning suppies, shoebox(you will get one at oreintation) and my briefcase. That's it. The day I know I'm gonna switch out, have everything packed up and waiting at the access door. Makes swaping out much easier.

Jim I know a few campgrounds, one is called Mount Pocono Campground and they are on Rt 196 less then 5 minutes from the DC, but I don't know if they offer year round. The other is PVP campground and they are about 20 minutes away in Bartonsville. My email is coachm60robert@aol.com shoot me a email and we can exchange phone numbers. I may have another idea as well.
