It was more than I took home on two decent weeks at former job! It was a beautiful thing! LOL.

That is great...... but with everything else the way Walmart is operating, it is not a surprise to me at all. :)

It's DEFINITELY a culture shock! All I've heard is so far right on, from how you're treated to how you're paid (and when they say you're paid for everything, they mean it)!

Jim, by the way, as you know I live in Texas now (since 1996), but I am originally from Springfield, MA. My wife's family lives not too far from you in Erie, PA., about 90 miles away. What DC do you hope to transfer to in the future? Looks like the one in Woodland, PA would be the closest to you at about 130 miles away. Pardon me if you mentioned this previously. I do not recall you mentioning this DC, only Toby and Pottsville. :)

Yepper...will look to transfer to Woodland in 11 months one week LOL. Toby is 267 miles (4.25 hr drive) whereas Woodland is 2.5 hrs away. Cutting off two hours would be great...but I might be happy enough here to stay here. We'll see.

Especially in the winter. That trip from Toby to home could start to feel like going cross country! Before I left MA in 1996, I worked for J.B. Hunt Special Commodities hauling exclusively hazmat. I was on a dedicated run between Worcester, MA and Montreal, QC (sometimes Quebec City and Ottawa as well). I got so sick of snow that winter (1995-1996) that I moved to Texas and never looked back! :) It is sort of nice to see the snow now when visiting family up there, but not driving in it! LOL! :)

Hey Jim, glad to hear the job is being everything we said it is. Wait until you get your first safety bonus. :) I'm also glad to hear you are feeling better. Being sick in a truck sucks.

I have a truck all week also. Just wish the guy was cleaner. Oh well. It will be clean when I give it back to them. As for The Rock, yes, they often live in "wishful thinking" land. Just look over your loads, and if something is not doable, talk to your coordinator. They don't have a problem with that at all. Realignment starts next week. Going from a Friday start to a Thursday start. Same time. It actually works out very well, as I will be off for Christmas Eve/Christmas and New Year Eve/New Years. My family actually sees a lot more of me now. In the winter, hauling propane, home time was often wishful thinking also. So, this is a huge improvement. Add to that the much lower stress level, and Daddy is a much happier person when at home. Hopefully the financial security will make the time away from home worth it for you guys. For me, the improvement over my old job was huge.

    Off to sleep.

I agree as well. I was home everyday too, but in the long run, this will benefit all. My son is only 19 months and I do miss him a great deal but now I will be able to provide him with a better future. Well gonna get my day going here and ill catch up with ya'll later.

Getting my day going also. A nice multi stop in the mountains. It is always nice to get out of the Valley. One of my stops is where I live.

I have always missed my son, who is 11. We talk on the phone, and I take him with me frequently (Walmart is very family oriented, and encourages their drivers to bring their kids). My wife makes sure that we have quality Daddy/son time when I am home, and I spend as much time with him as I can. He is so proud of me, getting this job, and calls me a Walmart Superhero. LOL

    Talk at everyone later.

Wal Mart! Here I come! I have a couple of issues I have to work though but I will get those dealt with, nothing major just some stupid rookie mistakes and once those are old and finihed with I will look up the DC here in Buckeye! I figure there will be several retiring out of there in the next few years and will be perfect timing to get in there. I appreciate the info. here. I am glad the bosses on the forum is keeping the negatives out of it. Thanks Guys see you down the Road.
