Hi, Matt -- we had a nasty troll in here, badmouthing WM and ridiculing us for working for them. Meh -- he actually accused Gloria of being a WM manager, and coming in here and deleting a thread that he started!

/\/\/\ Yep, he sure was!!! Well, it seems that he's making a "name" of sorts for himself around these here parts ... Another WM thread that he started has been locked. :biggrin_25525:

OOOOOOKKKKKK ... I do believe Brian's ready to roll ... Friday was his last day with the Mentor, who called he and his work "impressive" all day long :biggrin_25525:

They know that he is chomping the bit to have at it, so even though he was originally scheduled to be off this coming week until his Friday start day, they're letting him work M-T-W !!! He is tickled pink and more than willing to run as much as they'll let him. And even better -- they're letting him start at 06:00. That puts him leaving home at 03:00. (He has been up at 00:00 to 02:00 for 03:00-04:00 start times as long as I've known him, and he prefers very early start times.) However, I think that they've got him starting at 11:00 a.m. during his regular week. But he'll live with it.

He went to one of our local MWs yesterday and bought himself a 40-qt. Coleman. Then I helped him with a shopping list, and he went grocery shopping for himself today. Together we got everything portioned, separated, bagged and ready to rip. I have to make sure he gets up at 02:00.

We don't know how long it will be before Brian gets his own truck -- he seems to be under the impression that the blessed event should occur within 2 or 3 months. I have a small microwave for him, but he drew the line there, refusing to take it until he gets his own truck. I understand that he doesn't want to be schlepping a whole bunch of stuff in and out of trucks, but I did insist that he have the fridge. He told me not to worry too much about the microwave, he believes he will be hitting stores and DCs often enough that he can just use theirs when he needs one. Besides, he said that a lot of the guys leave their appliances in the trucks and don't mind if the other drivers use them.

His DC just put on 3 men including Brian, and they're actively looking for 8 more. I think that somebody told him the goal is to get a solid 120 drivers on staff. And he said they're getting some new trucks in, which of course increases his chances of getting his own ride. I told him not to get in too big a rush; after all, it doesn't surprise me that *nobody* wants to come to New Hampshire this time of year, LOLOLOL :biggrin_2559:

    So here we go!!!

All the best to Brian and as we all say to each other, be safe out there! Good call on the microwave part for now. All stores and dcs have one or two in the associate break room.

I just read through that locked thread. That guy has some issues and fantasy of us. I guess being teased with lower number wasn't good enough. We all know that we can make more more than advertised. I am quite happy with what I make and how I'm treated here. I love my Wal~mart!

Thank you, Matt -- You too, Buddy!!!

Although he doesn't know how to read the entire pay sheet yet, Brian was showing me a comparison. He grossed more in his first 4 full days with WM than he was grossing for his 6-day weeks at his last job!!! (5th day was a really short one-time thing, in meetings and finishing up some other stuff.) So yeah -- at the rate he's going, we're looking at closer to $100k than $70k for his first year. I'm sure that guy was yapping about what is advertised -- "Make $76k your first year," I believe it says. But that's a minimum -- if you're a slug, you'll slide along with that. But if you're a hustler, you're gonna make some good money.

That guy just doesn't get it, I reckon. Also, not everyone is cut out for a few overnights OTR every week. It just so happens that Brian doesn't mind it at all. Yeah, he misses me some -- as I do him. But we're both cool with it, and we see the Big Picture. He's more than likely gonna be at or near a DC when he's ready to knock off for the day, and he'll be able to have a nice hot *free* shower in a clean, pleasant DC with fresh towels. Not likely to be too many $10 showers at truck stops for him. And dirty 3:00 a.m. restrooms??? LOLOLOLOL Not my boy -- ain't his style. He's been trucking long enough that he knows how to take care of himself just fine. And where else are you gonna get paid $42 per night just for sleeping ???
We love our Wal~Mart, too, Matt ... here, have some more KoolAde :biggrin_25525:

Showers are 12$ now at some of the major chains. Just like scales are 10.50$. Nice that it doesn't come out of my pocket at all.

Getting the big picture is what it is all about!

Hey Buzzard, congrats on Brian getting out on his own. The "ride" begins. :D

Matt, not only was I a WM manager who had the capability to delete threads on this forum................. but I was a dude also !!! LOL Boy, Rick sure was surprised. LOL

Rick is enjoying his 6/2. He had a weekend off already. We will get to start planning for the weekends, which is something we are not used to. Be safe out there, and keep the wheels down. :)
